G'day everyone  !
Just a short question: do I need a lady with a small hand to replace the boot cylinder retainer clip?
I have difficulty myself.... or any trick into it?

Thanks  : Laszlo

Hi Laszlo,
If you search "boot lock" you will find a few pages.
Lady with small hands is a good option if available.
After 2 hours of frustration.
I used a short piece of timber 200mm long, 42mm x 12mm with a hand saw cut across the width to take the flange on the lock retainer.
A bit of Blu tack or masking tape to loosely hold it on, and then push into position.
Worked like a charm.

Hope this helps

Lazlo ..Those South Aussie blokes are so casual , the correct tool for installing boot lock retainer is GMH tool FC-A Syd Blu ..
That's Sydney Blue Gum timber 192.75MM X 38.75MM X 11.75MM bevel edged , 1/4" hole to hang it up on tool board ..now your clip will be perfect ..don't forget weather seal around lock barrel ...Vern

Thanks Vern.

I have a different problem now. I just put back the old lock cylinder without any big drama, but I did find out the locking mechanism not working any more. I had a new set, they supposed to be for Fe Fc. The door locks are fine. The boot one is different shape than my original, missing  a bit where actually the retainer plate can hold it in the right position. I saw one on the net for $249 ( !!!) exactly same than mine. Tomorrow I will check out Rare Spares , maybe they will have the right one.

I think Rare spares have the wrong lock in their kit, this is the second time someone has had this problem. Check it out with Rares and see if they have the correct lock.

After visiting the local locksmith and cutting a new key ($7) the original boot lock back on the Fe .
Today I received the scuff plates and the petrol filter neck rubber cover from Sam.
Good on you  Sam , very good job !
