Hi folks

Where would I get some new tie rods that’s the arm piece with the small ball pin on one end that’s further from the tyre
Seems to be every thing else but can’t seem to find any of these

Do those ball pins press out or is it the whole arm one piece ?

Thanks

Trevor,

New ones (NOS, that is), will be scarce.  Second-hand ones are easy to get.  Any tie rods from FE to EH will be suitable.
Do you need the adjusting nuts and threaded sleeves as well?

The ball ends aren't supposed to be removed.  They're pressed into the tie rod forging, and then the end is peened over.

I posted this on Facebook yesterday which seems more than a coincidence. No new ones available. NOS or good second hand or bolt up HD HR assembly, inner tie rod to inner tie rod.

Keep looking through second hand sets till you get some good ones. That’s about all you can do now.
I haven’t seen a NOS one for many years and no one remakes them to my knowledge.

I sent the ones I had loose to a mate on the FB EK Forum. I have a couple front ends I'll see if I can drag out.

The HD HR draglink is available both second hand and remanufactured. Outer tie rod ends are common to FE FC. Inners (parts you want) are available new. Idler arm support is common to FE FC as is spline on the Pitman arm. So the whole thing just bolts up. Not an obvious modification by any means, but it is a definite improvement in steering play.

Th ed original ones are fairly s tr a light f from memory. Possibly  a slight curve in them over length.

Be careful buying on line. I got a set for HR which weren't quite right. They should have a pronounced bend to clear pitman and idler arm on lock, and these didn't. I ended up getting a pair about the same price from local supplier. The kingswood country ones look correct. Trupro ones look wrong.

I'll throw on this idler arm if you want it. Cleaning out.
