Phil,

I'll take a look through my service info for Air-Chief radios and get back to you.  There will be a model and serial number stamped onto the radio's case somewhere, and failing that, a small sheet detailing transistor or valve part numbers glued onto the inside of the top cover.

I'm guessing it's a hybrid, with twelve-volt valves and a transistor audio amplifier.

The radio looks like a Vauxhall / Chevrolet radio

The adaptor probably suits one of the other.

Nothing in my Airchief files.  Possibly the model number is stamped under one of the brackets. The number is usually quite small in height around 1/8". I have also seen the model number stamped on the base of the radio.

Phil,

It's an Air-Chief JQY or CQY.  Your photos just show the tuner section.  You should also have the audio amplifier module, which is an open sheet metal chassis with a transformer on it.  Astor designed them as a "universal" radio, they also came out with a six-volt model.  The fascia is for FE-FC, and because the radio's wearing Air-Chief badges, I reckon it was sold under the NASCO brand.

Did it come with a speaker?  The Astor service sheet shows the radio with A-S-T-O-R on the pushbuttons, and a long, narrow Bakelite enclosure for the speaker.

I have the servicing information, and can even repair it if needed.

Rob.

all I have is what is in the photos , I have contacted the person I got it off ( he is cleaning out there fathers shed ) and he's away at the moment , he is going to look for the rest for me when he gets back.

if I don't receive the amplifier/power/speaker assembly we will have to make one up.

cheers Phil.

I have a long narrow speaker assembly if you need one.  From the size of the speaker is 7'x5"

Correction to my comments on the speaker size.  I meant to type 7"x2"
