I have a very original Air Chief radio to repair.  It is a model SS.  It would have been manufactured for the FE model as there is a date stamp on one of the components dated Dec 1956.  It is the usual valve/vibrator shape of the radios of this era.  What is different is that is has 5 or 6 preset station positions but no push buttons.  From what I can find out is that the stations were changed by the driver using a push button on the floor.  This in turn operated a solenoid inside the radio to do the changing.  The radio can also be manually tuned.

Would anybody have any information or knowledge of this radio and how the preset tuning was done and any information on the foot operated floor switch?
