Front subframe is off, Im amazed how good everything is, the subframe lower bolts are perfect, Subframe arms are also perfect and where the sides connect to the firewall its still shiny silver metal.
The only rust is the very front on the top side under the grill, i dont understand why the floors are so bad, the bonnets bad, and lower doors are all rusted but stuff you think would also be badly rusted are not.

The diff is next, and if anyone wants to come and pick up the diff and front crossmember feel free, It will only end up at the tip.

Hey Nick,
Looks good. Cool Cool Nearly finished Cheesy
That's my next task... fitting new sills. Only the outers thank goodness.
Are you going to put the doors back on when fitting the outer sill???

Nick, have a look on my build site(my fc rebuild) Glenn(fcv8 shed find ute) gave me some great shots of the inner mounting plates for the front end. They gave me a lot of help in setting it all up, just be mindfull of the need to have the mudguard mounting holes level with the inner sill panel not the step out for the mounting plate. If you take a close look at the photos, it shows a step of about 15mm from the bottom of the mounting plate before the guard holes. I used the old slip nuts from later model guards for the guard bolts to screw into a whole lot easyer than trying to weld nuts in place, also makes it easier to do the bolts up later on.

Nick, you have fallen into the same trap as me. The mounting plate is a pressed section that sit away from the by about 15mm. The bottom edge of the inner sill needs to be in line with the sill not kicked out as you have done as you will not be able to bolt the guards on. I'ts hard to explain in words but if you look at the photos of other cars you will see that the plate is pressed out where the support block is mounted. Have a look on Why don't you take the FC on, Rob has a good shot of the section he made which shows the shape it should be.
All the best with the rest, Jim

Mine does have the "pressed in part" for the lower subframe bolt, its hard to see, but the end if the sill should line up with the floor to pilar joint. Thats how the other side is. with the rare spares sills there isnt much of a bottom lip so something needs to be welded on for the guards, the end of the sill does curve at the end standard a bit.
