Hi

Like I said, if u do the drive i could be your first stop, 500km from adelaide, should be able to do it in 1 day. U could stay in our caravan and give it a good check, I know plenty of blokes here who are mechanics who couls ort it to get u going, then if u were not sure about it, we could trailer it to melbourne (depending on what day it was) and at least u would have made it there which from there would be considerably cheaper to get it on the truck from there to sydney.

The other thing that you should always have with you is some fencing wire... You never know what can break and is amazing how a bit of fencing wire gets you out of the crap!

I would like to thank everyone for their help and some very generous offers.
Due to a number of factors such as daughters birthday this weekend. (14)... Hastings old Holdens classic cruise the next weekend and then wife's BD (15 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy  oops 50 Shocked) too the weekend after that. (she really would be "not happy Jan")Easter, etc etc I have decided to get her shipped up. Probably the wisest move. The seller was abit coy when I asked about services etc and brakes, He said that it was fine for the 30 ks' he drives it each week  . It would more than likely do it with ease. I'll just get it back here and give it the once over and do a local run. Its a grand I didn't want to spend but had resigned myself to at least 700 before I bought it so 400 bucks extra and I save my butt and back 20 hours of driving in a day and a half.
( i think I've talked myself into it now)
Kathi if your ever up this way you can get free Physio for the duration Grin
Thanks to all again. More pictures next week. For now Back to the rust repairs..... my welding is coming along. Making a workbench this afternoon before a huge storm and blackout

nearly finished

whats your plans for your bench top .

I have been using 38mm particle timber stuff then sheet it in 1.5 gal for people seems to feel a bit more solid.

Hi Pete
I'm using 19 mm yellow tongue . water proof and reasonably solid,- thats why the extra supports. Thats a good idea about the gal sheeting.

That will do the trick.
I just find the sheeting easy to wipe and a earth if you are welding.

Also i never knew they made self tappers for yellow tongue to steel they have little wings that clear the timber as you are drilling and they self countersink..

Call me Cranky BUT... I accepted the "QUOTE" from ACR for $1115 and that was a hard decision to make. Get an email back saying their quote is now $1145 due to increased fuel costs. Whats 30 bucks worth of fuel into 1700K's.  I told them to shove it! :-*my ass.
Back to the drawing board!  Cry.
Got two more leads and then if that doesn't work out its a ROAD TRIP.
Kathi ...what are you doing next Saturday at 2.10pm
lets see

2. tools.... check
3. sleeping bag... check
4. fence wire.... check
5. map of adelaide... check
6. no doz.... check
7. check on those screws that Pete is talking about

Just saw your post Nick - we can be at the airport at 2.10pm if Kim's quote is not acceptable to you.

You have my mobile/home number via the PM I sent the other day.  Smiley
