i cant wait to get mine to the blaster, but its a long way to go to e decent one. does anyone know of any good ones in ballarat?

Jumped about 400 steps today. Had an opportunity to get the radiator repaired. Had old tank removed and a new tank refitted as well as a 16" Spal thermo fan and  custom built shroud along with a small hot rod Air Condensor. Had already purchased the Electric water pump.




Looking at the new stuff always makes you want to spend more. Grin

No real update except to say have been working away in the background. As everyone knows it is about money. I expect a significant update in a month or so. Still have the enthusiasm to continue.

I was at a swap meet at Caboolture a couple of weeks ago and came across the following.  The seller said it came out of his HR Holden but did not know origin. There are no discernible markings. Does anyone know? It is a beautiful thing with bakelite switches and pivoting globes. Will need a new alloy base machined up at at some stage, the bodgy timber one is gone.............

I reckon those lights came out of an HR panelvan
and were probably removed at the same time as the studded diamond patterned crushed velvet interior, and mini cocktail bar  Cool

The lights along with an overhead foxtail should give me an extra 10mph.  Grin

I had an HR van back in the mid seventies and given the work that "workbench" used to get I don't think the egg poacher would have been much use for what we were doing but I know the curtains the G/F's mother made sure were handy, lol.
 
Lots of great memories went with that old van !!!

It has been a while since the last post. Not much physical progress but have been busy getting little bit and pieces done.

Decided I wanted to get a blacksmith to fabricate the strengthener through the tailshaft. Great bloke and did a great job. Had the steel lying in the back so basically pretty cheap.





The finished product and fits a neat as a pin.



Had a few parts powdercoated. Still not sure on the blue. But they do look great after some special care. The rear blind and the sunvisor look like new. For 50 year old pieces I was happy they were able to be saved.



Now for the really pretty stuff. Decided to get the side plate ceramic coated along with a few other bits and pieces and I think they have come up a treat. The scuff plates are sensational for a 50 year piece of gear.




Further update when the underside welding has been completed. Need the tax cheque first.

Some small changes. As you can see got the rear mounted rack back from Rods Racks. All good. He completed on time. It does look a treat.

The rack is a commodore manual rack with the 911 part number. Bought the Steering arms (the shorter ones) from a HQ and Rod shapes those as well. The Universal is also slightly honed to maximise the turning circle. He also did a collapsible steering column. Not in the shot. I think the price is reasonable.

Will keep updated on progress.

Found a boilermaker prepared to have a go at the rust. Here are some progress photo's. Car is up on the rotisserie


Getting ready for the Commodore Fuel Tank


Started welding in the new Shockie Mount


Floor Repairs


Getting ready for the bigger Tunnel.


Some minor floor pan repairs



Both left and right main cross structure floor repairs.



and finally the scrap steel already removed.



Thanks for looking. Progress still being made. Slowly getting there, I've got a tiger by the tail here.
