Thanks Kathi,

I reckon the kid will be stoked too  Smiley

On the test ride(s), I was the envy of every kid and adult (big kid) on the block!

handing over the "keys", or in this case the pull start will be a pleasure.

I would highly recommend this as a type of project to hone some skills prior to attacking a project, or as a project to teach your kids some new skills... not that I shared the fabrication.. lol

Cheers

Ed

If you haven't grown up by 50, you don't have to.

Hadn't noticed your scooter before ED, great peice of engineering work there, how well did it go, any pics coming of it in action, do you make moulds for the fiberglass work, I've made a couple of surfboards in the past but that's just applying fiberglass to foam, the shape is already there, making a freeform shape like that would be a different matter Huh

Hey Jamie, thanks for the advert.. inspiration.
I just picked up 3 whipper snippers and a vintage mower off the kerb from council cleanup.

I’ve got a “turner” mower with a Villiers motor.

Pedro, howzit going?
The scooter needed further bracing at the lower stem, the kid decided to jump it.
Top speed on the flat has been clocked at 55kmh (by me riding a pushbike behind him Grin Grin Grin)
With a slight downhill he dropped me at 55kmh, estimated speed was over 60kmh.

The fibreglass wasn’t free form, you mould it around a special urethane foam then you can either chip the foam out or use it as a mould for production.  Easy as pie.

I have a sequence of pics if anybody is interested in me posting a "how-to" on fibreglassing.

Fibreglass is good but it makes a mess…

Cheers
