anyone know how to remove the wiper knob from the frame? I have unscrewed the base out but baffled to work out how to remove the tip

Nes, thats the light knob, to remove it press the spring loaded button a bit over half way along the switch on the flat side.
Hold the button in and withdraw the knob & shaft  Shocked

Nes, you must pull the light switch to "headlights on" or full out position before you push the button in.

They can jam a bit - push the button in and twist as well as pull.
