Hi again,

I have just acquired a set of nos 138 pistons. Their crown are different to the old ones. There is a recessed dot at the outer edge of the crown. Is my belief that this must face the front of the engine correct?

The manual also talks about checking and realigning the conrods when fitting new pistons. Has anyone done this and what does it entail?

Thanks

Rod

If the dot is 90' to the gudgin pin then that dot MUST face towards the front of the engine, also a quick check on deck height would go astray. quick check is to put clay or playdo  on to 1 installed piston, bolt head on with gasket and bring that piston up to TDC.
Remove the head and measure thickness of clay if you have less than 10 thou dont use them!!!!
