Hi all
Yesterday arvo a mate and i installed a cd player in his fe. we took it for a test drive and all was going well until smoke started pouring from under the dash. We pulled over and found the problem to be that he hadnt put enough electrical tape around where he had joined a wire so it was exposed and live and it was touching the tight metal coil that runs under the dash- not sure what its for or what it is connected to. we fixed the join and tested everything and it all seemed ok.
However he has just rung me and said his wipers arnt working- or rather he turned the nob and they didnt work but 15mins into his drive to work they slowly came on. Knowing nothing about the vaccum wipers im not sure what makes them work so wouldnt begin to understand where the fault could be or if it is directly related to what happened yesterday.
Any light on the situation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Paul

The "coiled Wire" is the wiper control. The heat from the short probably cooked the layer of grease lubricating the inner from the outer - hence now the wire wont slide easily through the cable. It will need to be disassembled to be fixed.
