Yes your wright Richard was at the Vic Holden Day. Went and saw the car with Geoff before Easter very nice car interior perfect, body has been repainted and the motor is not original B block FB motor and has had rust repairs in the sub frame and in the floor, but still very nice and honest car. It is an old resto and l think the car is worth $8,000 to $10,000 tops.
Cheers Tony.

Makes me wonder why you'd replace the engine within 11, 000 miles Unless you'd cooked it or run it dry of oil.

Kind of makes you wonder whether it should be read as:
HOLDEN FE SEDAN, 1957, reg GVA-911, original (comma) 11,000 miles since rebuild, 12mths....

Yes, it peeves me when they make claims like that, which aren't actually true. 11,000 miles, new motor, full respry, rust repairs etc. I wouldn't call that original 11,000 at all. I guess that is what they call "Poetic Licence". As for replacement engines, my new FC wagon had a "Repco Special" motor put in very early n in its life. Not sure why though Does anyone know what is so "Special" abot a "Repco Special" motor. Car goes bloody well, I know tht much. Rob J

Hi Rob, I am under the belief that REPCO used to distinguish the difference between a short and long motor by adding the special name for warantee purposes. Matt

Hmm, Maybe that's it. I forgot to add it is a "Gold Star" motor. The sticker has: "Repco", then in a big Gold Star it has "Gold Star" (A good place to put it!), then "Motor", then in big bold writing, below all that it has "Special". There is also a little aluminium tag with the engine number stamped into it.

Hi Rob,
Re Repco Special Motor.
From memory (not so good these days) Repco had exchange grey motors that were called "sports motors" they were bored out to 3 1/8 inch (pre FB) and had a mild cam.

Hi Mal.
Thanks for that. I had a feeling they may have been a little warm. It goes very, VERY well for a "Stock" Grey.
Regards, Rob J

Rob Mal has nailed it here for you. I belief thats what the Gold Star meant as compared to Repco Specail being the differance between long and short motors. I was also told once (a long time ago now) that on the tag with the engine number that there was a number or letter that meant something but it slips my mind now, this could have been for a later motor also. Perhaps DR Terry could enlighten us here and clear a few this up.
Cheers Sarge

After all that forgot to mention that the FE still looks like a head turner to me. When it comes to advertising, the way you word the ad is what sells it so its up to the buyer to ask question about the vehcile and if you are not to sure about the car ask some one to look at it for you, or just walk away. In this case if it has had a replacement engine I think the word original should be delete from the mileage. Just my two bobs worth.
Cheers Sarge
P.S Hell It's Good To Be Talking About FE/FC Again
