getting there...

I've been searching but to no avail...
I'd like to fit a set of half moon headlight covers.
Surely this restricts the capacity of light produced? Are they illegal as they restrict light as such?
Or are they there just to look pretty?

Alot of big Autoparts stores should be able to get them. They are also obtainable from Hot Rod parts stores and custom parts stores. Try John's Rod and Custom in Vic or Kustom City in Qld should have genuine 'Moon' branded items. email them at: kustomcity@bigpond.com You see them on ebay at times. A quick search revealed this guy selling 2 sets. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36612&item=4541585608&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVWRegards Alex

Sorry Alex...
perhaps I didn't word the question correctly.
I'd like to know whether they restrict the headlight's capacity to produce light.
i.e. at night is vision obscured whilst driving, as you can't see as far in front due to half of the headlight being obscured.
I'm pretty sure Rare Spares stock them too. But Moon items would be great to get hold of! Thanks for the link.
Regards,
Josh

tests have proven that the final words before a fatal urban car crash are "OH ****"
in a rural car crash they are " Hold my stubby and watch this for skill!"

I had them on an FB also and hadnt noticed any difference from standard ,Theyve been on for 2 years or so no probs ,apart from the cheap chrome - when bugs hit and they arent cleaned off regular they start to rust .
Alex's link to the guy on ebay are the ones you want ,I bought a set off him 2 months ago made in stainless ,Mayt they are awesome. No rust ever ,Awesome shine and only a $25 start price.
Ask the seller if the ones he is advertising are infact stainless because he has neglected to mention whether they are or not and he may only be supplying the cheaper versions now ,which by the way were only $12 from memory at the summernats.

Try before you buy, get some cardboard and masking tape and make a set up and try them out one night! Drive around with them, then rip them off for an immidiate comparison.

I had some on my car for seven years, I took them of to get more light but didn't find much difference as my headlights were putting out week light and it wasn't my covers, from memory I had noticed that there was less light. I read somewere on the net that they increase light by reflecting it back into the headlight and then onto the road, he must have had real shinny backs or been full of crap case mine were all rusty on the back and didn't get brighter ever. mine have a few bug stains but I kept them pretty preserved with car wax. on the "bright" side they looked pretty cool. sometimes you just have to sacrafice things to look cool.
