What's the best way to hook up a heater demister for an FC?

Is there any sort of special connecter that adapts to the demister slots at the back of the dash?

I've got an old accessory heater floating around in the shed that has some 30mm convulted tube, flattened at the end with some wire "clips" fashioned to hold them into the dash slots. Is this as sophisticated as it gets?

Any advice or examples of what others have done would be appreciated.

The original demister outlets looked like a little vacuum cleaner head, and were self-tappered into the vent.  If you've got the front windscreen out, that's easy, but otherwise.... It's not that much more sophisticated than what you already have, which sounds like an innovation for the windscreen problem anyhow.

Your namesake Ed Ho made a batch of fibreglass heater ducts about a year ago. AFAIK they are sold out, but I think if he has enough orders he'll get more made.  His username is "Ed" if you want to send him a private message.

The original metal ones are almost impossible to get these days.

cheers

Hey Ed,

The simple way around this that I have seen is to get a couple of the vents from Ed and fashion a 12 volt hair dryer to suit. This is of course if you don't want and actual heater in you car.
Gets around the regs nicely.

Cheers
Jason.

Hey eddie
I hope this isn't to late to help you but I have only just worked out how to post photos. I am using what Jason was talking about 2 12volt hair dryers attached to the excellent vents that ED supplied
Hope this helps

Glenn,

Thanks for the photo, seems like a good way to go.

It has also reminded me to chase up Ed for the vents...

Regards

Speaking of vents....

First batch is ready.. hurray,   The order this time round was pretty big, and the re-moulding took longer than expected, so apologies for the delay.

The first lot need a touch of paint and they're in the post to you lot.

I am still in the process of laminating, trimming, glueing and painting, so if you have ordered some and they dont arrive in the next week  or so, it probably means they are still in the making.

thanks all for your patience.

Cheers

Ed
