Vintage Car Day 2007
Robertson Heritage Railway Station Annual Vintage/Classic Car Day
Sunday 8th April, 2007 (Easter Sunday)

Location:
Robertson is a lovely mountain village, on the top of the escarpment on the Illawarra Highway between Moss Vale and Wollongong

Attractions:

Known as the Green Heart of the Highlands, Robertson has rolling green hills, rainforests, magnificent waterfalls, stone fences, lush country side. Stunning views of the ocean can be found 2 kilo-metres to the east. Beautiful Bowral  heart of Bradman country is only   20 minutes away.

Village:

Has a wonderful old pub, one of only two wooden pubs in NSW, with a sunny deck and bistro,  bowling club, cafes. gift and antique shops, and a country market open on  Easter Sunday. All are within an easy walk of the venue.

Venue:
RHRS is a national Trust listed railway station. We regularly host visits by the famous 3801 steam train. The ride down from Sydney and up the escarpment is reckoned to be one of the prettiest in the country. The station complex consists of well preserved railway buildings, the “Fettlers Shed” Art Gallery and the Village Common picnic area and park. It is an attractive location with gardens. trees, picnic shelters and a renowned Flugelman sculpture celebrating the building of the railway.

Autumn colours are a feature of this region and Easter is ususally a particularly lovely time to drive through the highlands.

Event:
Held each year on the second Sunday ( Village Market Day ) of April. Last year over 80 cars attended rangeing from pre-1914 models to classic Holdens, Fords and Leylands.

Great fun was had by all. This year will feature people’s choice trophies for best British, European, American,, Australian and Japanese cars 30 years and over. Ten dollar ( $10) per car entry fee. Contact Murray 0407 903 857 for more information.

Gallery/ Station Museum & Kiosk:
RHRS will be running a kiosk selling famous hot pies, meals, cold drinks, coffee etc. The Gallery will be hosting an Art Show with free entry to all. The station has an interesting small museum showing the history of the railway and the engineering feat of building this busy rail freight line

Would you beleive i once did a day trip to Walcha on the motorbike and had a pie there :-)

it was only an 1100km round trip.

fairly spontaneous too, so i couldnt prep the bike as well as i would have liked and got home and the canvas was showing thru the rubber.. lucky!

Cheers

Crikey Ed, I've been known to go out of my way for a good pie, but 1100k's.

The cake shop on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at Thirroul does good Pepper Steak & Tomato & Onion pies, don't know if they are trading on Easter Sunday though.

Good cake & pie shops are few & far between these days. They seem to have been replaced by Bread Shops that sell cakes & pies on the side.

This thread has been hijacked by the pie eaters - so I'll add my bit:

If you're ever in SA heading from Clare north to the Flinders Ranges, stop at a little (population less than 300) joint called Stone Hut.

Now the bakery there has pies: all the usuals (but reeeeaaaalllly good), plus goat, camel, crocodile, emu, venison.
