safe storage of hydraulics

What would be the best method of storing a used - but still good - brake master cylinder for safe keeping as a spare?

I thought possibly washing in alcohol and sealing in plastic, although I doubt 100% alcohol is available without ethanol or the like added to it anymore.

I just thought things like that would be good to carry for spares on trips.

I believe the idea is to keep the rubber lubricated - so unscrew the bottle and store in a small container submersed in brake fluid - in the shed.

I reckon a bottle of brake fluid should be enough to get you out of trouble on a trip, there is more chance of developing a leak in the slaves then the master.

I think the best way to do it is to strip it out, clean thoroughly, get new seals, and reassemble with rubber grease in the bore.  This will be foolproof and will also not need to be kept wet.  A new kit is very cheap (I have some for sale at $15)
