Sudden brake failure

The brakes failed on my FC over the weekend fortuately in a low traffic area, never the less it gave me a shock. It turned out to be a rusted out brake line just behind the drivers door. Seems that the line rusted where it was held by the clip locking it to the body. Prior to this I had already replaced the master and slaves. Machined the drums and put new linings on.

It now looks as if I will need to replace the brake lines from the front distribution block  to the rear slaves, it also appears that the brake hoses are quite restrictive, the internal diameter being smaller than the 1/4 brake line internal diameter.

Is this normal ? and are there any other known points of failure that I should be aware of. If I keep this thing standard (which I want to if possible) will it ever brake well and with reliability.

Don't give up Steve - It will all work well eventually.  The problem is that these cars are getting old and everything is starting to wear out.
I would expect that since the master and slaves, the linings and drums and now when the pipes and hoses are replaced, all will be well - because there is nothing else left - except the pedal itself.......................

ps replace the hoses with new ones, dont use s/h as they will suffer the same problem.
