To those in the know,

Which sump do you use on a 304 when fitting into a FC. I also have a rod shop IFS front end with front mounted power rack.

Thanks

I used a pre injection 308 sump as the hum is reversed but the front crossmember needed notching. So I modified the sumo anyway.
253 sump is also a great start.

Thanks for that, the rear section of my cross member is angled so do you think the sump will still need modifying

Should be ok mal that is very similar to what they used to do to HR crossmembers.
When I do my V6 mock ups for engine mounts I put the crossmember on the floor and lower the engine on to it without it in the subchassis if you did similar with a sump fitted you would be able to check clearance maybe.

Depends on where you want the engine to sit. With a 253/308 sump and the engine back enough you might get away with it.
You’ll have to fit to check.

There are really 3 differently shaped sumps to suit the Holden V8 HT-HG, HQ-WB (Incl. LH-LX) & the finally the Commodore style.

The Commodore has the 'hump" at the front, so won't suit that crossmember.

I think the HQ-WB style will be the better fit.

The sumps from 253, 308, 304 (carby or EFI) & the 350 stroker will interchange. It is the chassis of the car that determines which sump suits, not the engine size
