Steel timing gears, masters eng?

Hi guys,
I am in urgent need of a set of timing gears.
I have been trying Masters engineering but no answer.
I tried emailing them and it bounced back.
Are they out of business?
If so what is the best alternative?
I suppose I have to fit alloy one.
I have heard if you fit a new one with a new steel crank gear they are quiet.
I have had red motors with alloy cam gears and they were quiet.
What is differant with a grey motor?

Ok, I'm going to answer my own questions here.
I just rang Auto Barn Lawton (they also build race motors) and he said that they are out of business.
He has fitted 2 sets of JP engineering gears with no problems.
He also has a set on the shelf.
So I'm all sorted.
BTW they also keep Gray motor engine enamel, water pumps and other parts.
Talk to Rob. Awesome to deal with. Unlike Repco!

I've never used anything but alloy .Is there any advantage using a steel one? Haydn

The alloy gears can separate the steel inner/keyway from the alloy gear over time. Most of the guys reporting this are flogging the hell out of them in race applications though... unlikely in a road vehicle.

 Steel ones are also noisy i have a set in my fe ute but i like it like that, combined with the mild cam it sounds hotter than it actually is.

Not all steel ones are noisy. Most steel gears "bed in" over a period of time (usually about a months worth of driving) and the noise dissapears.
