Dismantle and remove dash FC

Hi Everyone,
I havnt posted for ages , My Baby has been garaged since Australia Day this year due to a new Garage/Workshop being constructed at my place.
Now it has been decided that My FC will be our wedding car in FEB 2011.......some work to be done!!!
I will post photos of the journey...
It has just gone off to the Panel shop for the Tops to be re-done (India Ivory) my interior is a fairly aged and original, so i am also painting the dash the same colour,I have the recently available dash fascia surround and new knob surrounds.
Would anyone be able to assist me in where to start taking the dash out ?

Also I may be investigating sourcing another FC for the Big day So anyone willing to hire out for a few hours?

Undo the 2 screws under the dash directly below the fuel guage and 1 under the oil gen water guage thats it to take the cluster out.


Where did you get your surround from?

G'day Sunday special and welcome back, there are two big flat headed screws under the dash and the top is held by two brackets, once you have the screws out pull the bottom out a little and then lift up and off the brackets, you'll be able to get at the back a bit easier if you disconnect the speedo cable first.

i havn't seen any feedback on the forum about the quality yet.

Start by disconnecting the battery first

yes the battery is a big one to do i remeber spark flying.
There is a few comments about rares surround not very good at all.

They were not the same as the approved sample apparently

Ah yes, Battery step one.....a given.
 
My old dash surround was so deteriated (as most are) that i cant even compare it to the new one.
Has anyone heard of Exotic Kustoms in Carrum Downs?  I saw there web site and there was a sweet FB that they has resto'd
Im re-thinking the just getting the White tops and sash and going all out ..........I would have the future wifes approval cause you know..... its for the wedding and all:)
