1701  General / General Board / Re: Too many Ebay links in our "For Sale" listing on: March 27, 2003, 07:38:00 AM
Hi Guys,

The way I look at it was that everyone is keen to help each other out on this site, which is why this site is sooo great.

So don't be offended John, it was a nice gesture but just a little too big thats all.

Anyone for a beer?

Cheers

Hi guys,

Maybe that poses the question whether or not the gurus of the site plus anyone else interested should write a book. All of the information, photo's and wealth of knowledge gathered from this site would make an interesting read. Could be done in a similar form to the FJ book kicking around at the moment.
Thoughts anyone?

Great to see another one returning to the road.
With the ute that I have, I checked all of the above and the one extra was that my brake pads delaminated apparently the glue deteriorates with age or lack of use.

Good work Spider,

I bet it is good to see some colour on the machine.
I thought that will a tag of Spider there would be a few "Redbacks" in the paint scheme. Grin
Look forward to more picks and maybe a huntsman or two.

Hey Ret,

Not like I am one to judge but I will have a guess. I think you are right with the Ascot grey and the strip to the rear when compared to the rear cover would also tend to agree with the dark red theory as it looks to be a deeper colour.
Maybe one of our resident computer techs could do a range of colours and compare?

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what has happened to the chat room... Maybe we are all logging on at different times... Or just can't be bothered???
On the occasions that I have been able to nab someone for chat I have found it to be very productive.

Cheers

1713  General / General Board / Norman Supercharger on: January 09, 2003, 09:08:26 AM
Hi guys,

Put the green ute on the road today, and while getting the roadworthy done noticed a norman supercharger gathering dust on top of a cabinet.
When asked if Rob wanted to sell it to me he said "Unless it's going on something special then it can stay on top of the cabinet" so me thinks that there were a few guys out there who may have a special place for this one... Condition unknown.

Hi ED,

Am just in the process of doing the extractors for the V6 and have found them to be fairly easy. Started with two mounting flanges, 10 90 degree bends and 2 collectors...Cut and weld to suit... After I'm done am getting them HPC coated. Tight fit on the drivers side but look pretty good.

1715  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Steering column for rack and pinion on: December 22, 2002, 11:45:29 PM
Hi guys,

I have used the steering column out of the Vt as for my application it gives me a colapsable column as well as the ignition and wiring harnesses for blinkers, wipers and cruise control. So it depends on what you actually have planned for the car with regards to the accessories. As Ed said that there is a lot of choice for the columns that can be fitted.
I also have the front mounted rack and have heard at a later date that they are outdated and don't work as good as what we all have been told when we purchased them.
For now I'm going to suck it and see and hopefully in the near furture there will be another better way of doing it.... More research required.

I have used sedan floor pans to fix the rear or my ute, they made the job a whole lot easier.

1720  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: My Van on: November 04, 2002, 12:12:55 AM
G'day Scarey,

The whole lot is out of a Vt Donor car that I purchased at the auctions.
Pedal assembly and booster from getting out of the Vt to installing into the van took 6 hours. This required 5 holes to be drilled, then by cutting the original peddle assembly where it meets the Vt, welding each other together to remove any firewall flex. They basically match perfectly.
The steering column from the commodore has also been shortened to suit.
The Vt dash took a little nutting out at first but ended up being pretty simple. If you align the original lugs from the bottom of the cluster to the bottom of the dash and then weld 2 pieces in place so that the cluster slips in between these. Fashion the top mounting nuts according to how far back you want to tilt the cluster and weld the pieces to the top of the dash and then the removal of the cluster is obtained by undoing to bolts.... Hopefully you get what I mean. If not just give me a call.
The outside piece took a little more time and patience but after about a week it is nearly right.
The whole wiring loom is from th Vt also.

Regards
Jason  Grin
