Mine went and I only had 3. One was only sent in the last 24 hours, although the other 2 were oldies. It can't have been size that mattered.

Gotta love the russett brown over cuban beige FE in the Collins Street photo. Exactly the colours of my baby, though looking a little tidier all those years ago.

General / General Board / FC wagon in a movie

I went to see the movie "Look Both Ways" today. A b&w photo of an FC wagon appears in it as the camera scans across the family photos in a scene towards the end. You just can't go anywhere without an old Holden popping up, even at the movies! Cheers, David

For Sale and Wanted / Cars Wanted / Re: FE Wagon

My FE sedan is russet brown over cuban beige. Its plate is: FE-225-29650-S Trim: 206-718 Paint: 253-7455 I've always believed it was built in 1958, but the original engine is long gone, so that doesn't help. Its original NSW rego plates were BMM 798. The colour doesn't look the same as in Rabbitoh's new wagon, but I suspect that is a function of light and it being a photo. The interior colour scheme is the same as on mine. It looks a lovely car Rabbitoh. How does a Rabbitoh come to be so far from South Sydney anyway? I'm also a Souths exile in Canberra. Cheers, David

I've picked up a donor seat today from Cooma wreckers, so I'm set. I brought it home in the trailer which shook out some dirt. When I went to sweep out the dirt I found a 1956 threepenny that had fallen out of the seat. That's one I'll be keeping as a lucky charm!!! Cheers, David

I had the pleasure of a trip to the wreckers at Cooma today, and theres an FE wreck there with one of these folding seats. I didn't try to make the mechanism work, but the seat is pretty sound, although the upholstery is not much good. It has a cover still fitted over the original upholstery, but even so would need re-doing. A little gem maybe for someone keen. Cheers, David

For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / FE front seat

The springs have gone in the front seat of my FE 225 special sedan - specifically those where the driver sits. I've had it looked at today by an upholsterer whose says that it is far gone. He is recommending replacing the whole seat, but would do repairs if spare parts were available. Does anyone have a spare seat, or springs??? I have seen the post from Nathan in June and am waiting to catch him to see if his FE wagon front seat is available (and if it is suitable).
An alternative may be a trip to the wrecker at Cooma. Did anyone who stopped there after the Jindabyne nationals notice whether there were front seats in any of the cars that looked to be in reasonable condition??? I am in Canberra but could manage anything up to around Coffs Harbour for a pick up. Over to the forum on this one, with fingers crossed. Cheers, David

For Sale and Wanted / Auction and Trade Links / Re: FE UTE (ebay)
|
on: August 18, 2005, 09:15:07 PM

The bidding on this one is all marked as private. Is that dodgey, or just the way the ute has been listed?
There is now a second FE ute on ebay, said to be for parts only. Its listed to start at $50 with no bids so far. I still haven't mastered putting up the link I'm afraid, but again, search under FE holden and you'll find it. If someone wants to PM me the technique for putting up a link, feel free - neanderthal at work here I'm afraid.
Cheers, David

There's a nice looking FE Special on ebay at present. I don't know how to do the link so someone else will no doubt do it. Started at $5K and up to $6K with a week to run.
Search ebay under FE holden and it pops up at the top.

Thanks guys. I will give a try (on the back first).
The car is stock in brown and beige, just like the one in the 'dockside' advert. I will get a picture of it posted soon - in all its glory when my wife and I used it (and a white with black flashing FC) as wedding cars back in 1984. Yes its the same wife who put her toe through the top of the back seat over the weekend, as ranted about elsewhere.
Cheers, David
