We are looking forward to welcoming you to Canberra for a great time at the 2018 FE FC Nationals. I found this sorting through the filing cabinet. It came home from the honeymoon in 1984. I can't remember seeing any old Holdens there in 1984, but it was a long time ago now! Cheers David

Hi Glen,
The ACT club has been signed up for several years and I am aware of only good experiences. As small club we have still been able to get points up and have got banners and eskies as rewards.
I'll be interested to see if anyone else has had different experiences, but ours has been positive.
Cheers David

Hey Rod - don't be so hard on Mable or yourself. As you say - just get out and enjoy driving your car. Bit by bit you will get things done to get her in better condition. But she is registered and running and the biggest hurdles are in the past. As we saw at one garage today - you could be a lot further back in the process and years off being able to get out and drive.
It is great to have you and some other newish members in the club, full of love for the old cars and enthusiastic to get involved.
And yes - the ACT club is over represented with fabulous FC's (and some fabulous cars of other models as well) - the display we put on at lunchtime has been dubbed "The Macquarie* Nationals", and with good reason. There was some really nice stuff on display, but also some honest old unrestored cars that are treasured just as they are.
As they say - happy Motoring! Cheers, David
* Macquarie Nationals because we were having a BBQ at the Pryce Senior's place in Macquarie ACT, and put on a mini display of about a dozen cars that were literally stopping the passing traffic and drawing admirers.

There was a complete one at the Goulburn swap meet yesterday! I thought about buying it myself, but passed it over on the basis I don't have storage space at present. If only.....
Hopefully one will turn up for you.

Oh no - you didn't trust the petrol gauge I hope. I work on the basis of fill her every time.
We had a good turn out of FE and FCs, plus 3 or so other models. The two tone Grey FC in the photos was also having its first club run for Rob & Jane. They have owned it long term and joined the ACT club last year. The FC has mostly been on the road until a fail to re-register in time resulted in an inspection being necessary, and a few jobs also being required. Rob & Jane will be attending their first Nationals in Toowoomba.

It certainly is the ACT's turn. We have a committee up and running a will have details for everyone attending Toowoomba, and then for more general release.
Easter is also the National Folk Festival in Canberra, so accommodation needs to be booked well in advance to beat the Morris Dancers. (One activity proposed for the sports afternoon on the Sunday was "Beating the Morris Dancers", but it turns out that they are a protected (sub)species.) We will have details of a headquarters location with accommodation and where some meals will happen.
And don't forget to register for Toowoomba TODAY if you haven't done so already, or you miss out.
Cheers David

Technical Board / General Technical / Stock tyre sizes
|
on: November 14, 2015, 02:51:43 PM
|
The time has come to put new tyres on my stock sedan. Those currently on the car are getting a bit long in the tooth and I don't want to do a long road trip to the Nats and risk a tyre failure.
The question is, what size is "correct". At present I have 185/75 x 13 tyres on. I am told that 185/80 x 13 is closer to the profile of the original tyres. I am able get some in that size. I can also get 185/70 x 13 tyres. What does the voice of the forum say is the better way to go?
And for all those who have been unable to sleep at night worrying because my wheels are black (because Grandad liked them to be black because a car with black wheels never looked like it needed washing!) and not the correct colour, I will take this opportunity to get the rims repainted in glorious Cuban Beige.
Cheers David

Hi there,
If you can post a picture of the mirror I can check my Wibroc catalogues to see which mirror you have and what its original appearance was. They made a wide range with a variety of features.
