G'day Greg ..
I have just UN- Lowered my FC Sedan ..If it helps ..I got the front coils at Bursons ..Australian made King Springs .came with anti squeak inserts ,very easy to fit ..and their price was the best ...don't forget when assembling to centralise the king pin body in the lower wishbone and fit the 2 rubbers on the bolt either side of the  king pin body  ..cheers Vern

786  Technical Board / Restoration Help / heater core on: May 07, 2018, 07:26:05 AM
Gents ..I have a Natra Australia heater core ..number stamped on plate ..MI 81117009  .New/old never used...Copper and brass ,tank at either end ,5/8'' hose connections ,at one end in corners offset towards centre of unit...It measures 61/4" X 71/2'' X 21/2" ..IS this for FC ? ..I was told it is ,the air inlet is oval and the core is almost square ,there must be an adaptor to install it airtight ,any info would be very helpful ..THX
787  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Grey motor info on: April 27, 2018, 07:02:23 AM
Thanks again for the info guys.
According to the gentleman the motor has never been fitted in a car. Having a look at it motor it has two holes in the head for the temp sender and heater. The green paint still has me confused.

It may have been an industrial application ..some Broomwade Air Compressors ,( old jackhammers ) had Holden engines ,I think their corporate colour was yellow..Maybe a pump ..I have a 186 that was used as a cooling room power supply in a winery ..Vern

789  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Grey motor info / red motor on: April 25, 2018, 06:44:03 AM
Interesting info on casting marks on grey motors ,,thanks ..you guys may be interested.. ..I worked at Repco in 1960 and 70's ..We purchased a batch of brand new 179 and 149 engines from GMH to start the exchange engine range for red motors  .So those initial customers got a brand new engine not a rebuilt one till enough got into the exchange system ..Those engines did not have an engine number ,we had to fill out a police register ,the customer had to bring his rego papers back to us showing the engine number given to him by the Motor Registry ..and we would enter it in the Police register ..it was poorly managed ,only time we saw police when they were looking for a stolen vehicle..Some people stamped their old engine number on the new motor ,so there are two engines with same number ..home stamped or registry stamped numbers are usually easy to pick ..never as neat as factory stamped ..and of course there is always the bloke who wanted to exchange a 149 for a 179 or later on for a 186 ...cheers Vern
790  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: C pillar stainless trim on: April 22, 2018, 08:24:35 PM
Gents ..
The stainless trims on C pillar on my car as I said were silicone on ,I have now removed the silicone and the paint back to bare metal ,and revealed there are two holes along the fitment line ,where obviously the original style clips ( no longer available ) Ken mentioned above would have fitted ..The Volvo ones I have are not suitable ,so I will make out of Chrysler ones I have which wont take much modifying and use same holes..The thin verticle trims under the tails lights ,I am sure have never been off the car ,and I straightened out the little tangs with much intrepidation ,removed and still intact ,hope they go back on as well..cheers Vern
By the way ..does any one know a wheel wright who makes wooden artillery style wheels as found on early 1900's trucks ..
