Isn't that KBS good stuff ? ,I have put some Black Hi Gloss on with brush ,really soft brush and warmed the paint up ,and " sopped " it on ..very happy with result..

Morning gents ..Interesting Gary how Holden used Bosch and Lucas head lights ,thanks for the heads up,we compared the 2 surrounds and see what you outlined ,the depth from the front of the rim to the mounting screw hole is the same on both ,but the overall width at same point the Bosch type is about 2mm shorter ..We don't see that as a problem ..I may fit 2 gaskets where the light bucket fits into the guard on that side ..NOW THE GOOD NEWS ..!!!! Steve has painted the inside of the B columns the final Dominion Maroon ,he gave the paint and the finish the thumbs up ,that's all I need ,I wasn't there ,going today ..cheers Vern

Rob.." substitute a short push rod to go with it "!!!! Sounds like you are going to use mixture of components ..Don't do that ..use correct and checked components ...

maybe you can Irontite stitch it .

Clay ,Ok thanks ..we have discussed these rims before ,you can see them in these images ,I assume you have ,so you think they are most likely LC Torana then ? ..The Torana hub caps must fit differently than FC ..that's one of my dislikes of these rims the hub caps wont stay on,the hub caps I have fit nicely on 1950's rims ,so that's the way I am going ..cheers Vern ..   

Hi Rob ..Sounds like a lot of unusual sludge ,shame ,bugger,In theory a car with a full tank of fuel parked on a hill should remain that way ..freeing up piston rings ,HMMMM ! if it were I ,and the amount of sludge you know is there ,and your fearfull its also in the rings ,I would sump off ,and take pistons out ..100% piece of mind ..guess work removed ..all the best Vern .

Yes Rob ,the dust is not wanted ,definitely protect against it ,at oil and water access areas..I was thinking about your sticky inlet valves ,its usually oil coming down the valve stem that builds up with heat and carbon ,and contributed to by worn guides and valve stem seal failure ..its odd that residue from burning old petrol finds its way "UP" the valve stem and guide and bends 5 or so push rods at the one time ,while the plugs keep firing  ..or even made its way thru the carby ,old fuel standing in a vehicle that builds up sludge would be right through the fuel system..I would be looking for " murphy " also ,that unexpected finding ..cheers Vern ..

Strip it disc in an angle grinder ..go carefully and keep it nearly flat ...removed remains of gasket today on an International engine ,works well ..Vern

By the way Rob ,was that fuel E10 ?..I cleaned a generator carby that was glug from old E10 fuel with Citrus Paint Stripper ,it came up a treat ..

Mark ..Look on table in background above RH tail light ,there is 5 rims there ,yours is pride of place ,all been sand blasted ,zinc phosphate coated and primed ,will be done in India Ivory .and thanks again ..Vern ..
Also of interest to some guys , we had lot of discussion on this forum about tyre size ,in my pics the two front tyres are 175 x 70 R13 radial ..the 2 rear are 6.40 X 13 Bias ..the RHR is re tread ..I am happy with appearance ..

Gents ..Thanks fellas ,just hope wind dies down ,Graham ,met your mate Wayne at the Maroota Muster last Sunday ,we had great chat ,boy ,a really nice FE he has there, our car Colour is India Ivory over Dominion Maroon in 2 pack ..I believe its colour scheme phase 2 ,ie roof is Ivory same as front of vehicle ,and as it was originally..Interior is Fall Red / Black ..I am keeping it completely stock ,it was a very original registered car when I bought it ,just old and tired , like me ..I'll trouble Dave to post images of it painted ..cheers Vern .
