Technical Board / General Technical / Rocker shaft oil feeder
|
on: September 26, 2020, 08:12:13 PM
|
The oil feeder that fits between the 2 rocker shafts has a small hole and a large hole. The manual does not show which way it should go on. Does the large hole face towards the front of the engine?
Also l am not getting any oil feed to one of the rockers. Could you please recommend the best way the remove the pedestals so that l can clean everything out? Thank you.

Could someone please advise if this is correct: With the tail lights and brake lights on together, does the indicator cut out the brake and tail light or should it only cut out the brake light when it blinks?

For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Exhaust flange stud
|
on: May 10, 2019, 05:25:15 PM
|
I have snapped the stud when tightening up the exhaust pipe to the manifold on the grey motor. I have tried various exhaust shops in the Dandenong area, Rare Spare etc with no luck. The stud has a coarse thread that screws into the base of the manifold and a fine thread where the exhaust flange and pipe bolts onto the stud. Does anyone know where l can purchase one please?

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Steering Column Tube
|
on: December 20, 2018, 12:30:57 PM
|
Hi everyone, I need to remove the outer steering column tube from the steering box and refit another tube due to external damage. There are 2 solid rivets connecting the tube to the steering box. Is there another way to refit the tube other than solid rivets? Thanks, David

General / General Board / Roof Lining help wanted
|
on: October 19, 2018, 03:14:01 AM
|
Hi everyone,
As some of you may know, a few of the guys from the Men's Shed in Berwick are helping Phil restore his FB Holden due to him recovering from a stroke. Phil is also a member of the FE FC Car Club.
I am in a bit of a trouble at the moment due to stupid me slipping down some stairs on Wednesday and cracking a rib or two. I have recently started to install the roof lining but am not in a positon to glue it down and the guys helpng me are not comfortable in doing it.
I am hoping that someone in the car club may be able to help finishing off the roof lining? I have fitted the new lining into position with bulldog cllps but trying to stretch it is beyond me at the moment. The car is located in Narre Warren Sth.
Any help would be truly appreciated.
Cheers,
David

Technical Board / Modification Help / FB Holden Red 186 Motor Conversion
|
on: June 27, 2018, 08:10:53 PM
|
Hi everyone,
I am going to restore an FB Holden for a friend who had a massive stroke 3 years ago (only 47 at the time) and just found out that he actually reconditioned a 186 red engine prior to having the stroke. He will never be able to drive again but his wife wants to drive him around in it.
My question is, do l require an engineers certificate to do this conversion in Victoria? The car will be going on club plates. I believe that the grey gearbox will bolt up to the red motor and that l will require an HR front end, is this correct?
Thanks for your time
David

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Holden FE Pin Assembly for the Brake Shoe Link
|
on: July 28, 2016, 08:05:31 PM
|
Could anyone please advise whether the clip or the spring assembly should face the brake back plate.
The photos in the repair manual looks like the retaining clip faces the backing plate. Is this correct?
I took a photo before disassembly which showed the opposite to the above?
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
David

Hi David from a fellow newbie. Don't be afraid to ask questions, Ive asked every dumb question known to man and they still have the patience of a saint and always get back to me with an answer even a dumb bugger like myself can understand. What a great looking FE. May you have many enjoyable hours driving her.
Regards Rod. [Thanks for the comments Rod. I will certainly be asking some questions. Cheers, David]
