21  Technical Board / General Technical / Engine stumble when revving from idle on: March 27, 2017, 09:15:32 PM
Hi all, bit of an issue with my old girl.
Its idling beautifully, and once it increased rpm from idle it also runs well.
The issue I'm having is when i first hit the gas the engine stumbles, unless I slowly let it on. Sometimes it also backfires through the carby at the same time.

I've changed the points, condenser and spark plug leads and also recently changed the exhaust/intake manifold.

Do any of you have any suggestions of what the problem might be? I really don't want to have to rebuild the carby, as this uni student cant easily afford the $400.. Thanks!

Jesus you're not wrong about expensive bits....

I'm waiting on the great FCRB28 (Pete) to see if he has any, if that fails I'll try the Circlip option.
23  Technical Board / General Technical / Handbrake cable retaining clip on: October 30, 2016, 10:47:17 AM
Hi all, after fitting a front handbrake cable to my 58' Ute I've noticed that the cable doesn't stay fitted to the handle. Do I need a clip or something to hold it in place?

Thanks,

James

24  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: FC Special Indicator Wiring on: August 21, 2016, 10:40:38 AM
Hi Errol62, thanks for your reply!

Ive checked the earth this morning and that doesnt seem to be causing any dramas, power definitely isn't making it as far as the socket. Do you know where I should find the front rear split? Unfortunately all the wires which to go the back lights are bunched together on the right side of the ute are all mostly the same colour, so its hard to know which wire to bare!

Thanks again,

Wilcey

Hi all, back again with another problem...

I currently have the right indicators working without a hitch however on the left I can only get the front working... Does anyone have any clues on to where i should look to begin diagnosing the problem... the wiring is all pretty much original from my understanding, however the colours of the wires dont seem to match the wiring diagram i found somewhere on here. Secondly, I have tail lights, but no brake lights...would this be due to a similar issue?

Its a '58 FC Special Ute.

Thanks  Smiley

Hi all, I've just purchased a new headlight switch due to the old one dropping to bits. I've got the knob itself out of the switch but can't for the life of me work out how to remove the switch from the dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
