1  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Sand/soda blasting near Freo on: September 25, 2016, 09:56:41 PM
A few months ago I posted looking for a decent sandblaster. As noted above I found one.
I have just received Francis back and I'm absolutely delighted.
I would highly recommend Autoblast for any body work prep.
I asked for a blast and prime, I want to cut dodgey bits myself, but wanted it visible.
It is perfect.
Better than perfect.
And the price was very reasonable.
One happy camper.

Good point.
The business is called "auto blast" - perhaps not very original, but descriptive.
It's run by Peter and Steve Meegan, a family business, they specialise in preparing vehicle bodies.
They had an e type Jag, a Kombi, and a falcon shell in there when I dropped Francis off.
They are located at unit 1/11 Playle St Myaree ph 9317 4242
Email: autoblast@inet.net.au

Obviously they haven't yet done Francis, but I will post progress.

4  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Sand/soda blasting near Freo on: June 14, 2016, 05:00:19 PM
My blasting man has disapeared.
FranCis (wagon) she'll is on rotisserie and stripped to her shell, ready for blasting prior to attacking the rust.
My "man" who does this has gone☹️
So I'm looking for someone who can do the job for me, want quality more than price, would prefer closer to Freo but if really good willing to deliver anywhere around Perth.
Floors ( as usual) are shot, but above that pretty good.

Any ideas.

Shannon, if you need more pictures I can supply.
I also saw on eBay (currently) a grey wagon that has grey dorm insides yet the cream interior, not sure if that is original, but may be kosher when the exterior and interior are different.

6  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Chrome on: January 15, 2016, 02:01:12 PM
I'm wondering where people can recommend to have things rechromed.
Initially in WA, but willing to send bulk lots over east if this is a significantly better option.

7  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Wagon rear window support struts on: December 30, 2015, 07:22:06 PM
Looking for at least 1, but perhaps a pair of the support struts for the rear window. I don't have a passenger side one and the drivers side one is iffy.

Thank you one and all, especially Parry who assisted me with some spare front floors, ...now if anyone has rear ones.......

I'm not sure I will be able to wait until I finish my current one, although wifey's argument has made me get off my ass and the nasty job I was avoiding is getting done........still a bugger of a job.

Yes I have given the wagon a name.
But then all the cars I love have a name. Most of mine are much older (1901,1909,1911,1915,1926, & 1953) but I have long wanted an FC wagon. I almost bought an FB a few years ago but decided do to wait for what I really wanted.
So I have my FC special wagon. It is pretty well complete, and apart from non existent floors (now there's a surprise!) it's in pretty good order. The interior is complete and original making the pattern matching and colouring easier.
The engine is from an FB, by the engine number, but obviously isn't a recent change so it will stay.
I intend a complet original restoration, I don't want to go fast, but want a true original FC.
Why? Well it's the first car I remember dad having when I was a little tacker. My grandfather had an FB sedan which dad was given and he put them both on the market and the wagon sold first so he kept the sedan. Perhaps I was scarred by that and have hankered for one ever since.
This is not my first restoration, indeed I'm busy finishing my current project ( part of the "agreement" with wifey is that I complete this one first) which is about 98% done. This is a 1901 steam car.
But she didn't say I couldn't prepare! So I'm researching, ebaying and preparing.
She also didn't stipulate that my son couldn't begin!
So after establishing the engine condition (-it runs with good compression) he will remove it and refurbish it.
By then hopefully I will be able to attack the body.

When I figure out how to post pictures I will post the "before" series of photos which may help people with a less complete (original) starting point. Things like where does the two tone paint colour meet on the inside of the doors? And other minor but fun points.
13  For Sale and Wanted / Other Stuff Wanted / Chrome strip. on: December 23, 2015, 10:43:49 AM
Looking for the chrome strip on the drivers side rear guard. (Mines a special wagon, but I'm told the sedan strip is the same)

But the details are....
FC-229-1917-A
Trim No 258-664
Paint No 256 2158
RPO 253 6258
Top.

The engine is from an FB, so that's no help.

Thanks

18  General / General Board / Provenance for my FC wagon on: December 22, 2015, 09:39:39 AM
I have recently obtained my FC special wagon and about to begin a full restoration.
What I'm chasing is its provenance.
I bought it from a guy in South Australia (Port Augusta) who bought it from a guy in Victoria, Kilsyth- who also owns/ed a double green FC ( I'm assuming a wagon) he apparently used/Es it to display around Victoria, anyway he had bought mine from Qld for spares, realised it was too good for scrap and had sold it on.
So does anyone know this guy from Victoria?
I would like to know where in Qld he got it and of course any history he can supply.
( the guy he sold it to in SA was unable to do anything with it so it is in the same condition as when he sold it 6 odd years ago) ....but not for long!
19  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: FC special wagon RH rear chrome strip. on: December 22, 2015, 09:29:07 AM
Thanks for that, I guess if I'd been a little less excited about FranCis, and wagons I could have looked and figured that out.
I've waited a very long time for  a suitable FC and am pretty excited.
I have a FX, as well as much earlier cars (Veterans) but I've always wanted an FC.

Yes it's a deceased estate, but is starting at $1500.00, and has another 4 days to run.
