Long time no talk couldn't believe I actually remembered my login haha. Any of the original guys still floating around? My dad no longer has any fe fcs but I have been keeping my eye out for an original rolling FC for a project. Can't really remember how to use the forum anymore but if fat boy, Jamie or the Scottish/Irish bloke called Paul is still on here yell out cheers guys

v8 or 6 cylinder? stock or worked? and are you going to be running stockies with a 50-60 series tyre? or some big rims with real low profiles? stockies are much better to run with a minispool, as they dont put as much strain on yr axles. (hope that makes sense...)

i got a mate with a minispool in a stock v6 vn that gets thrashed and the axles are lasting.....vs diffs are a fair bit stronger too!

wouldnt bother, not for the $$$ it will cost you. for that you could build a tough v8/inline 6. or another option, is a rb30 turbo engine, there alot cheaper to build, and are tough as!

thanks for the reply Paul, not 100% sure on how we are going to fit it up yet, most likely going to do it pretty much the same way as you, does the stock sized trimatic stall fit onto the grey?

also got to add, my alaskan malimute has had pups again ($550 a pup, 11 pups) so the sedan will be booked into a panel shop next year for a respray (not going to attempt it ourselves, want it done in one year (not 3 lol!)

well its been a while, havent been on the forum much in the last few months, started an apprenticeship 3-1/2 months ago (as a carpenter), also moved out of home in with my gf .....and in the midst of all that ! my mum passed away, so my mind has been elsewhere

well anyway onto the update.

FCWESTY3-after the miss hap just before the nationals, engine was stripped of its top end, reco/worked and is all back together. manualised turbo400 has been fitted along with a 3500 stall and a bunch of other minor touches (guages, tacho, stereo) engine shall be running within the fortnight, just waiting on pushrods to come in then its just a mattter of bolting down manifold and firing it up!

FCWESTY4 (aka the ute)-not that much has happend to it, welded in a tun of rust repairs on the passenger side,  fitted crank supports and bolted engine together, fitted tripple carbs and headers, gearbox (trimatic) has been cleaned up new seals etc, 3200 stall coming, then it just a matter of dropping engine and box in.

just waiting on getting the sedan back together then the ute will be back on its road to recovery!

anyways, look forward to hearing from the guys on here, shall be seen on chat again now that ive got things together.... see ya's around

Paul, good to hear of some progress, its been a while since ive seen OLDKAT cruzing the streets....just remember though that the grey has a pretty large cam, if you run a standard convertor it will run like a pig up until around 3200rpm....look forward to seeing some pics soon aswell!!!

Gas research do some nice setups..... my brother got quoted $2500 including tank, filler valve, lines, throttle body, twin convertors, fitted and dyno tuned, ready to drive out.

i would say that straight gas or duel fuel is the way to go.... sorry i couldnt help any further....

               your ek isnt by any chance pink is it? fitted with red motor/crash box??? if so i can come up and give you a hand one weekend...its nto a hard job at all

yes i mean a torque convertor. if you go for a 3000rpm stall convertor, this will work well with the rest of your setup.

As for the diff, stock they are 3.08, youd be best off putting a vl diff in it, they are 3:4:5 standard, and you can buy em for around $100- from the wreckers, then if desired, fit a mini spool. the only modification you will need to do to fit a vl diff is fit the vh yoke onto the front of the diff. you wont blow a vl diff with a spool in it....
