441  General / General Board / Re: Do EH Brake Drums fit an FC? on: February 18, 2005, 08:03:21 AM
Thanks Craig, that answers that.

As it happened the FC drums I don't think have ever been machined and with only slight wear the turned up nicely.  Saved me $88 per corner.

The rears are now done, new wheel cylinders, new shoes, new axel bearing and oil seal.  Came up a treat.

I'll tackle the fronts tomorrow.

I was told by R & E Auto parts in Dandenong VIC that EH brake drums are the same a FE - FC brake drums.

Can someone confirm that please.

At $88 each has anyone got a cheaper solution.  My drums are almost at minimum thickness, rather than pay for one machining I thought new drums might be the way to go.

Thanks eveyone for the welcome.

Hi Rob, yes that's the one.  I had plans to mod the FC slightly, disc brakes, bucket seats, etc, but it is too good, I may finish up restoring it back to original, not that there's much to do that way.  Not sure which way to go yet.

Can you email me, I'd like to learn more of the history of the car.  kclarence@netspace.net.au
445  General / General Board / FC Ute home at last on: February 11, 2005, 11:09:53 AM
Hi all, I finally got my FC Ute home (VIC) at last. Buying sight unseen is always a worry, but when it arrived it exceeded by best expectations.  I can find no rust at all, I know, I know, keep looking, and the car was presented as clean as a new pin.  My first car was an FC Ute in skyline blue, and as luck would have it this one is the same color, so it brings back great memories.  My first task will be to fix the brakes (they're binding) and get it roadworthy and registered as soon as possible.  Then work on tidying it up.  BTW I've applied for and got my original registration HAV 709 ....... WOW!!!!

Thanks to Chris in NSW for representing the Ute honestly and making it easy to purchase.

Cheers Kevin

I am a newbie (be kind) and thinking of doing the same thing.

Can anyone tell me where to find an old thread or previous discussion advising how to go about it.

447  General / General Board / Swap Meet in Melbourne on: January 14, 2005, 06:00:42 AM
There's a big Swap Meet coming up in Melbourne.  It's on Saturday 5th February 2005 at "Akoonah Park" Princes Highway Berwick (50kms East of City) Probably the only one day swap meet held on Saturday.

It's hosted by the Dandenong Valley Historic Car Club Inc.
448  General / General Board / Wanted FC Holden Ute on: January 11, 2005, 12:10:33 AM
Wanted to buy and FC 1959 FC Holden Ute.

Preferably restored or in very good condition.  Also would like one in as original condition as possible, or at least be able to return to as original condition as possible.  I am located in Melbourne but prepared to travel for the right car.

Email direct with pics at: kclarence@netspace.net.au

Cheers Kevin
