I'm interested to see opinions on the roof support as well, I have a late fe van 1958 with windows and no support between them, when I first got it I thought may be something was missing? in my opinion it does require support in this area but I have heard that when the windows are fitted they become the support? I have looked at a lot of fc vans with large windows and they all have a bit of round bar fitted for support, I can only assume for the early van conversions they had an issue with fitted windows popping out? I reckon they fitted the support bar to correct it for the later vans or was it just the difference between the companies fitting the windows? thanks Darren.

44  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: FC Holden Rear Indicators on: May 21, 2018, 09:42:25 AM
Just in case you change your mind, you can get globes that are up to 30% brighter than standard globes, most of the spare parts shops carry them or you can paint the base of the tail light assembly white or a chrome type paint this helps, we have done this to other smaller tail lights in the past to make them a bit brighter, I personally light the brake light indicator but unfortunately if people aren't paying attention they wont see any form of lighting.

50  Technical Board / Restoration Help / FE paint colour on: October 27, 2017, 10:42:01 AM
G'day All,
My question is regarding the colour turquoise & sarasota white, the paint supplier had the sarasota in his list but not the turquoise so I picked one that I thought was close but the sarasota to me was to green (see pic) I have only ever seen one FE in this colour and for memory it was more of a white with a slight green tinge to it just wondering has anyone painted this colour in recent times or does anyone have a car in these colours so I can get more info as these are the colours I have chosen for my van and would like to get them as close as I can.

thanks
Darren

51  General / General Board / interesting old pic on: October 04, 2017, 12:42:39 PM
G'day All,
I was surfing the net the other day and came across this pic, has anyone seen it before or have any info as to which country etc looks to be a van with ute doors, I have wondered what a van would look like with ute doors and well there you go, I find it interesting that anything you think of to be different somewhere sometime it has been done or someone is in the process of doing it. Cool

56  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / van parts on: June 06, 2017, 08:43:07 PM
G'day All,
I'm chasing the internal side braces for a panel van or if anyone knows of an fe/fc windowless panel van beyond salvation that someone is willing to sell can you let me know.
Also after the grey motor engine mounts that bolt to the sub frame? (see pics below) I'm not an original running gear expert, I saw this frame for sale on ebay and noticed I don't have those mounts on my sub frame so any info would be great thanks.
A pair of front doors for a sedan/van standard preferably, a pair of front guards, a fe dash grille and a complete ash tray unit for the dash top.

Thanks Darren

59  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: ute door?hood lining on: April 19, 2017, 10:25:42 AM
Hi Ray, I think I understand what your asking? the shark teeth rail is what holds the headlining in place the wind lace is only there to stop the draft and cosmetically finish off the lining, if its the wind lace that you are after which goes between the shark teeth rail and the body most auto upholstery suppliers or auto rubber places should carry the wind lacing but it will be limited colours, it was hard to get for awhile as the manufactures had stopped making it but I'm not sure if this is still the case, yourself or your auto trimmer can make your own wind lace, clark rubber sells the rubber needed to make the lacing pick the diameter you want then get your fabric/vinyl that you want to use work out the length required then all you have to do is wrap around the rubber then sew down as close to the rubber leaving at least 25mm flap I hope this is helpful.
