181  Technical Board / General Technical / Engine Rebuild on: October 29, 2014, 07:42:04 AM
I am planning to rebuild the original (92,000 mile) engine in my '58 FC. Being a "newbie" I need a bit of info.
1. Where (in Melbourne) is a good source of parts such as pistons, rings, bearings, valves, oil pump etc?
2. Is it usual to replace the cam bearings on these engines?
Advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Frazer.
182  For Sale and Wanted / Auction and Trade Links / Re: Holden 1958 fc AU $13,500.00 on: September 16, 2014, 07:21:56 AM
I think that is the car which was for sale by a dealer in Tullamarine (near Westmeadows) for about $19,500.00 early this year. If it is the same car it looks ok in the photos but actually is rough as guts, looks like the paint was slopped on by a broom. I went to look at it and an FC station Wagon which he also had which was also pretty rough.
183  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Fueling dramas on: August 19, 2014, 07:54:27 PM
With those flexible fuel hoses, you can get a situation where the plys of rubber separate and the hose can collapse internally whilst looking ok from the outside, and this can occur intermittently. Now don't bother to ask how I know........Fraze
184  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Demister flexible tube on: August 12, 2014, 04:25:37 PM
A bit more info - the spiral wound flexible aluminium tubing (duct) covered in black paper is called Kopex Tubing, made in England. Also I believe Gates have a similar product.
185  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: FC Sedan windscreen washers on: August 10, 2014, 05:17:57 PM
Thanks DJ. I saw that on ebay and it looks like two of one side rather than a pair, which prompted my original question
186  Technical Board / General Technical / FC Sedan windscreen washers on: August 10, 2014, 08:00:21 AM
Info. needed re FC windscreen washer jets -  the chromed block under the wiper arm - are these right and left handed or are both the same?
187  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Demister flexible tube on: August 10, 2014, 07:56:11 AM
Problem solved - I used some vacuum cleaner hose which I picked up during a hard rubbish collection in my area! Works fine, very flexible and light, and pretty much the right size. Cheers, Frazer

190  Technical Board / General Technical / Demister flexible tube on: July 30, 2014, 04:07:33 PM
A while back there was a thread relating to demister flexible tube (duct) which I now cannot find. My question is did anyone find a source for this? - need 32mm (1 1/4" inch) to suit the dash top outlets on my FC.

192  Technical Board / Restoration Help / FC FRONT SEAT PLASTIC TRIM on: July 03, 2014, 07:19:24 PM
The black plastic trims on the front seat of my FC are cracked and have bits missing. Is there a source for replacements? Thanks, Frazer       (PS, I don't mean the black panel across the top of the seat)
193  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Demistervents on: June 18, 2014, 08:27:32 PM
That's great! Now how do I get in touch with Ed?  Also I don't know the brand of heater I have but it doesn't matter, once I get the under dash vents I can make the rest. SO! just need a contact number for ED.
194  Technical Board / General Technical / Demistervents on: June 17, 2014, 05:06:29 PM
I have a heater in my FC but the demisters have never been connected. Is there a source for vents (ducts) to fit to the under dash outlets ? thanks, Frazer
195  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Where to buy seat belts. on: April 29, 2014, 11:11:32 AM
All done. Bought a very nice set of lap sash front and lap only rear for the FC. I got them from AUTOLUXE in East Malvern, Vic. The webbing is a good match for the seat colour and they have Nasco buckles. I fitted them in a couple of hours - all happy now and I would recommend Autoluxe, very helpful and easy to deal with, Fraze
196  Technical Board / General Technical / Seat Belts on: April 26, 2014, 09:05:11 AM
I have come across a company called Autoluxe who have seat belts for classic cars, they had a stand at the recent Holden Street Car Show at Dandenong. They are in Malvern East, Vic. Has anyone had dealings with them? Thanks, Fraze
197  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Where to buy seat belts. on: April 25, 2014, 01:15:14 PM
Thanks for your info Ken. Fitting belts is not a problem for me, I guess I am too lazy to research the subject and was hoping someone had come up with a kit to suit. Unfortunately I wont be able to make the club meeting as I will be interstate then, Fraze   PS Thanks for the replies from WA but that is a long way from Melbourne
198  Technical Board / General Technical / Where to buy seat belts. on: April 24, 2014, 05:25:11 PM
I have just purchased an FC Sedan and it doesn't have seat belts. I would prefer inertia reel type for the front and lap only for the back. Can anybody point me to a source in Melbourne? (that is someone with FC experience) Thanks, Fraze.

200  For Sale and Wanted / Cars Wanted / Want an FE or FC Sedan on: April 03, 2014, 10:44:05 AM
I am in Melbourne and would like to buy an FE or (preferably) an FC Sedan. I would prefer a very good original or a restored car and am prepared to pay top dollar for the right car. I am only interested in an original spec car. Please contact me on 0400356669 if you have or know of such a car. Thanks.
