1281  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: taxi handrail on: December 02, 2013, 09:15:07 PM
Haydn,
I would be. In either stainless or black/chromed. End plugs may even be available at the hardware.
I guess once an accurate jig is made up around your sample, you have a set up for producing any number.
Dave.

Haydn,
Yes, the cost of chrome is always a more than I expect too. Stainless could be viable.
Look fwd to hearing the quote. Bracket shape & angle looks to be the only awkward part.
Dave.

These articles you find are very interesting. You must have quite a collection of archives. Thanks for sharing.

Had a go at tweaking the shot Ken posted but no better for reading a couple of the dimensions, sorry. A fax may not transmit any better even on a fine setting. Enlarging may work though & sending several pages to put together.
It's a good diagram, maybe just a couple of closer shots of the measurements would do the trick.

1294  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Odd pieces gone missing on: November 21, 2013, 05:54:30 PM
I went to a local fastener shop and purchased some stainless bolts to attach my bumpers, not original and a little bit of work involved but worth it in my opinion. Depending on the brand you might have file off some letters/numbers, then it's just a few minutes on the bench grinder with a polishing wheel.

And even better in real life. 4 mirror finish bumper bolts in stainless. Thanks for tips.

Can't help with a comparison first hand but if you do go electronic I see this option on eBay regularly.
Someone here may know if these are any good.

I can see you prefer the TIG. Having the knowledge & skills to apply the ideal mix of applications only comes from experience gained over a half lifetime.
Something that I've wondered about - how did you calculate the leveraged downward forces on curve where the mount is?
1300  Galleries / Project Cars - FEs and FCs Under Construction / Re: FC Ute on: November 17, 2013, 05:47:44 PM
Thanks
0.6mm mig wire and a steady weave after about 20 schooners last night theres hardly any material to remove with the grinder.

And all the way into the corners with minimal undercut. Who wants to grinds those hard MIG deposits anyway.
Argon mix or gasless?
