Here's a look at a rare Canopy Industries brochure showing 2 different styles of Admiral Challenge canopies for the new FE ute. (note that they are available direct from your Holden Dealer) It also features the 'Fold-a-way' seat that fits into the tray area. Check out the drawings of how this ingenious seat works. A good idea before the use of seatbelts. This is a Bi-fold brochure. I have flipped the back page to make it easier to show. Regards Alex

Now here's an interesting story. This advert was found under the vinyl floor covering in my parents pantry. I noticed a bit of ageing newspaper sticking out from under the vinyl and decided to investigate. I managed to pull a page out and discovered it was from 1958. Well I emptied the pantry floor and pulled up the vinyl to discover that newspaper from 1958 was used as insulation. (The house was a rental) I managed to score this FE ute advert as well as a few others. This one is from the Sunday Telegraph, Feb 9, 1958. Look out for some more under floor scores. Regards Alex

Suzanne. The first thing you need to ask yourself is, "Is this the car I always wanted?" if the answer is yes, then do what you want to it to make it everything you always wanted it to be. Will the different paint colour devalue the car?....depends on what the paint is like now! Just remember if this is 'THE' car, then the only consideration is what YOU want, not what someone you may sell it to down the track would want. If you plan on keeping the car for a long time, then go for it. My FC is purple with flames, a long way from it's original 2 tone green. I have had the car for 19 years and don't ever see myself letting it go. It pleases ME, and anything I do to her is done to please ME even more. So, please yourself or let it be. Regards Alex

Here is an FC advert that was copied for me by Ted Montgomery. I have no date or even know exactly where it was published, except to say it was in a Sydney newspaper. I love this advert for the great family theme and for the fact that it looks a little more 'modern' than most. It also brings back memories of a great friend. Check out the last line of the advert...."Have your Holden Dealer bring a sparkling new Holden to your home for a demonstration drive....today" Try and get that to happen.....today. Regards Alex

Hey Air chief. When was that photo taken? Where was that photo taken? That 51? Chevy next to it looks to be in better shape. Do you remember what it was like? Do you have any other pics of these cars? What was the car in front of the FC?.......50 Ford?....or English car? Do you want me to keep going with the questions? Regards Alex

Hello all. Since I posted the first FC advert, I thought the FE guys n Gals would like to see the first FE advert that I have been able to locate. It was found in The Age in Melbourne on July 24, 1956. The FE was released on July 19. Regards Alex

Hey Richard. Thanks for the new section. I hope to post here often, so all who visit this site, keep an eye out for some interesting paper based history. Thanks also for the extra stars.....whooHoo. Now I need to reach Guru status..Lol. Jason Here is a pick of a van without the accesory rear window. It belongs to an early member of the NSW club, Wes Collis. Last I heard, the car was laid up after a head on collision. Regards Alex

This is the earliest advert for the FC Holden that I have come across. This particular one is from the Melbourne Age, May 9, 1958. The FC was released on May 6, 1958. I believe the same advert also ran in the SMH on the same day. Sorry about the less than clear image, it was copied from micro-film. Please let me know if you are interested enough for me to continue to post this type of thing. Regards Alex
