1041  General / FE-FC Holden Nationals / Re: What's your MOTORvation for going to the Nats? on: August 20, 2004, 01:47:17 AM
gday glenn
i voted other. my reasons for going...                              1
to prove the guys at work wrong.  they reckon the old wagon will never make it across the nullabor.
2 i'm a glutton for punishment
3 i've driven the wagon north & south but its not been east yet.
anyone whos seen the wagon knows i'm definately not after trophys.(the biggest trophy could never give me the feeling i get everyday when i'm driving )

gday guys
thanks for posting the pics brad
the system is a clarion deck & clarion 6stack cd changer mounted in dash behind speaker grill, with four 6 x 9 speakers. 2 in the front mounted in mdf boxes on kick panels then covered with speaker grills to keep period look(had to mount them upsidedown to fit ), and 2 mounted in rear panels of wagon, again covered by speaker grills. made rear panels with 3mm mdf for support but its a pig of a job because they have the curved end & have to be flexible & solid at the same time.   the whole thing cost $1200(i did speaker install). the hinges fit easy, i used 2 i had in the shed just as a trial fit 2&1/2 years ago. you need to butcher the grill - it has a bit that hooks into the glove box you need to hacksaw off.
emu,    the gauges are Pricol (supposed to be made by Smiths)bought from AutoOne in Perth. black face white pointer , chrome bezel to match speedo (no neon colour) volts, oil pressure, temp.  theyre on a generic hanger at the moment, (making a proper panel is on my TO DO list before Jindabyne
          surferboy Cool Cool Cool
ps   i can still use the glovebox for all my rock&roll cd's(& the beachboy ones of course)
1055  General / General Board / Re: Names on: July 09, 2004, 09:14:53 PM
gday kalfe
the ute doesnt need panelbeating....... it needs a gigantic bull bar & rollcage with 50 spotlights , 100 aerials, then add kenworth mudflaps,a window full of Bundy rum and B&S ball stickers, and a total lack of any exhaust............and a parking spot at the O.B.H. on a saturday night.  (i'd luv an aussie ute)

1056  For Sale and Wanted / Cars Wanted / FE-FC   West Oz on: July 09, 2004, 01:25:53 AM
I'm thinking about buying an FE or FC. don't mind what age or style.( A ''56'' would be neat ). Must be licenced & roadworthy for daily driving and INEXPENSIVE.
( and if surferboy treats me nice i might let him borrow it)

1060  General / FE-FC Holden Nationals / going home on: July 04, 2004, 10:56:08 PM
gday tim,
can you tell me what the guys usually organise for going home at the end of nats. do most go home in convoy or individually ?
cathy is willing to endure the drive there but were flying home. this means driving to sydney (a few nights in a 5* hotel was part of the compromise) to freight the wagon home.
i look forward to cruising with the guys to sydney.
