Hi, Re the shudder and delay into reverse with the Trimatic, probably the reverse clutch pack will have the fibre facings of the plate de-laminating. This was a common fault with Trimatic. Usually there will be a pile of clutch facing in the auto sump with a lot in the filter blocking the intake of fluid. If so, will require a dismantle and repair involving a serious clean out and new clutch packs. Glenn

Hi all and compliments of the season. As a very occasional contributor but one who looks at the forum most days, my comment would be that the info available on here is great. I wish I could access a similiar site for Valiants, as I have Chryslers as well as Holden vehicles, but cant find anything as good as here for product info and support! Being "old school" and not very computor savvy, my main gripe is the adding of photos to the page. My inability to do so stops me offering ongoing progress reports or listing items for sale. Cheers, Glenn

General / General Board / Re: Nasco Mileage Tester

Hi, Can confirm that these were used as described. I used one often when working at GMH dealership early 70's. As stated it was mainly used to confirm or disprove customer queries regarding fuel use on Holdens and Toranas mainly. Also used occasionally on petrol powered trucks. Being a country dealership one would set it up on the vehicle in the workshop, then drive to the open highway before starting the testing. Area of highway chosen was usually as flat as could be found, and driven with a very light right foot!! Amount held in the bottle was one tenth of a gallon if memory serves me, and the trip meter on the speedo was set to zero, tap opened and driven till fuel in bottle was used. mileage on trip meter then read and multiplied by 10 to give distance per gallon. Ahh, the good old days! Glenn

Hi, I know this is a bit away from fe/fc, but hoping someone may be strong on 48 series body numbers. I have a plate with strange numbers as follows - STYLE NO--48-354, BODY NO-617, trim no - 114 special, PAINT NO - 1, TOP ACC 1. I realize this is off a FX, but body style 354 I don't know, also paint No 1, is strange. Can anyone help?? Thanks Glenn

Hi, I would be interested in a Taxi rail as well, would prefer one that could be chrome plated. What area of the country are these possibly to be made? can they be posted? Would use self tappers to fit, as I dont carry rear seat passengers either. Thanks, Glenn

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Booster for standard drum brakes

Hi,I have a VH24 on drums, works fine. National Brake Co in Shepparton, Vic. overhaul these units. Price is not cheap, but you get great service at a lower price than quoted by some other repairers. Many repairers dont have kits, either. Housings on VH24 boosters are of alloy and can suffer from corrosions as well, so this can be a problem on repair. Glenn
