G'day Stinky....nice to be missed !

Blame it on having another baby, then Christmas, then a change of workplace and a not so nice health issue, but as you say, I'm back, I'm alive, and yes....the car is finally on the bloody road.

I am looking at doing a start to finish summary with pics of the rebuild for our club newsletter, so when I do, I'll get Brad to maybe post it on this site for you all to check out.

But long story cut short ( no such thing )....licensing my beast was a massive task that just dragged on for months and many more dollars.

Give me a week or so, and I'll try and get something up and posted.

Good to catch up again !

iT'S ME HERE....YEAH, I'M STILL ALIVE !

JUST CAME ACCROSS THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME FIND AND HAVE JUST MAVELLED AT THE PICS.

I NOTED SOME DISSAPOINTMENT AT THERE BEING NO FE/FC'S.....BUT.......USE YOUR IMAGINATION AND LOOK AT SLIDE 21.   THE DESCRIPTION OF THE CAR JUST SAYS....IT'S A CAR....AN OLD ONE !    THINK IT'S A KARMANN GHIA VW, BUT CHECK OUT THE CAR IN FRONT OF IT.

CHECK OUT THE REAR BOOT BADGE, CHECK OUT THE SHAPE OF THE REAR LIGHT CLUSTER HOLDER, CHECK OUT THE LINES OF THE ROOF BACK WINDOW ECT.

tAKE OFF THE EURO PLATE AND IF I DIDN;T KNOW ANY BETTER, I'D SAY WE WOULD BE LOOKING AT DARE I SAY IT Huh?

Looks as ugly as sin to me, but hey, may be just the thing for someone else.

If its your cuppa tea, it is a bargain.  Think of all that hard work...it's all been done, for bugger all price.

I like the twin exhaust...not sure on the high back buckets in a convertible....and would have to change the HR steering wheel.

Love it or hate it....I'd really like to see this thing when someone has finished it off !

What a fantastic story !

Marko and Harko's Big Adventure !

If that's the dedication you showed just to pick up a new project, I can only but imagine what it will look like when you've finished it.

You could convert the boot to a mobile SPA...it's huge !

Well done, great read !

Very nice gary.........Very nice !

Good thing I didn't come to the Mandurah show, as your car would certainly have taken the show !

You have picked yourself up a real head turner there !

Well done.

Hope to have my car parked next to yours at the GM day, but as Kristy is due to have baby number 2 on the 21st NOV, it may be another case of bad timing for me.
But trust me...my car does exist and I will get to a club run soon.

Once again....well done on a beaut car.

7  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: mags size on: October 10, 2006, 10:08:09 PM
Paddy....I'm also running a HR Disc Front End, which has been lowered about 2 inches.   The Rear are Standard FC Springs also lowered about 1.5 Inches.

I'm runnng 14x7 " Dragway Indys, with a Torana Back Spacing, which makes it bloody tight.

To over come the fitting issues, I had the inner hubs of the Rims machined out about 6mm, which makes the wheels sit in further away from the guards.

I also trimmed the guard lips by about 2mm, but not too close to the pinch welds.

Then I fitted a 65 series 195 tyre, which fits the rim, but doesn't bulge over so as to avoid hitting the guards.

So, by salvaging 8mm in track and using sensible tyres, I have managed to fit 14 x 7's with a real deep dish ( Torana offset )...nothing hits any arms or guards ect....very happy.

For those rolling their eyes about lathing off 6mm form the inner hub....I first rang the Engineers at Dragway and asked their advice.

These wheels in particular have a fair amount of meat in the central hub area, and 6mm can be shaved quite safely.
I could have sent the wheels back to Dragway for them to do themselves ( from the factory so to speak ), but found a WA agent and a local guy who did the same machining for a fraction of the price.

Good luck

That is the first time I've ever seen a drag car get ALL 4 wheels off the ground and take off like a Jet Plane !

Great Stuff !

Me to, Mark....and just like half the country, I sat there glued to the screen.

But how fitting was it that his final ride was in a HOLDEN hearse dressed with BROCKY plates, and followed by a convoy of new VE commodore's.

Leon...if you need any inspiration, there are two Super Golden Rules:

- Don't look at other peoples finished jobs..it just depresses you how much more you have to do on your own, whilst they are all smiles cruising around in their finished rides.

- Look back at YOUR old photos, and just think how much you have already done, and how far you have come.  You'll surprise yourself how much you have done and what the car used to look like.

I'm 4 years plus into my build, and still not finished, and although I like to look at other peoples finsihed cars, I always got down thinking about how much more I had to do ( and still have to do ).

But every time I look back at old photos of my car, It never ceases to amaze me how far I've come.

You have done a huge job and you are probably more inspiration to a lot of us than we are to you.

Keep at it mate......you'll get there !

Hard to believe.   I was enjoying my lunch totally oblivious, and just up the road, a legend was losing his life.  Too echo Nunzio, Collecta and Tayz.....you have to ask yourself how much a Brocky fan you really are, if you cheapen his tragedy by selling out on him for Money.

To all you ebay leaches...Selling a book for $1500 hey...plastic car litter bags for $60 and so on....is that all he was worth to you ?
How would you feel if a drunk driver crashed into your car and killed your partner/wife/husband, and you were compensated $1500 for your loss.

Leaches !

If you want to sell your hard earned Brocky Memorabilia, then do it for the right reason, and donate ALL of it to the Peter Brock Foundation !

RIP Peter...have a beer with Trev for me !

Thanks again for your offer of help, hope I haven't caused any inconvenience.

Thanks again

Thanks Slim......Yeah it is the DRIVERS SIDE - UPRIGHT - Chrome Trim for the front Windscreen of an FC Special Sedan.

I have bought from you in the past and have been happy with how you wrap the items, so I trust that whatever you pack is in good order when it leaves.

If it is damaged upon arrival, then that's my problem, as I'm the one asking you to post it.

Just let me know how you go, and how much you want for it.

Thanks again Slim.

Thanks for the heads up......tried Slim, but was not keen on posting chrome trim interstate in case of possible damages during post.

I am grateful for Slim's honesty and if anyone should know he would, as I'm sure he has helped many members with posting such items.

However, I'm still in need of a trim piece, so if anyone else has one that they don;t mind packing well and posting to WA, please let me know.

Cheers

Can anyone please help ?

I am looking for the Drivers Side Chrome Trim piece that holds the front windscreen in place.

I have 2 already...one is dented and the other really badly scratched.
I'm hoping to find a good one.

Doesn't need to be shiny, as I can polish it myself, but must be dent and scratch free and in good order.

Cheers

Easy fixed Surferboy.......I have heaps of paint to spare that you can have for free !

As long as you like Blue and Champagne...I can post you the sheets of it in the mail if you like.

It's about the trip anyway mate....not the car.   I'd rather make the trip in a rusted out bucket than not make the trip at all !

Cheers

Good to hear Surferboy....all I gotta do, is get the 2nd paint job finished, car re-dressed in all it's jewellery, fit the interior and then the front and back windows, a few test miles, a tweak here and a tweak there, and I'll be set to join you on the big trip !

18  General / General Board / Re: Rare accessory. You ain't NEVER seen one of th on: July 19, 2006, 01:51:32 AM
Pretty Cool, but leaves me thinking.......what on earth would you ever use it for  Huh

I mean, it really only covers one side of the car with no real room to sit underneath.  So I presume it would help provide shade whilst in the car....but what and where would you be, that you'd be sitting in the car long enough to need shade.

Be easier to prop up an UMBRELLA  Grin

Great pic though, and looks to be in really good nick.

PS......your wagon is truly GORGEUOS sitting there in a dark shed.   a real credit to you.

19  For Sale and Wanted / Other Stuff For Sale / ORIGINAL REGO PAPERS ! on: July 13, 2006, 06:53:08 AM
Just found this for sale on Ebay.     This is not my ad and I'm not trying to help sell it for who ever is selling it.

In fact.....I'd be a bit dissapointed if some clown has come accross these papers and is trying to profit from it, instead of contacting the nearest FC car club and offering it to the club .

It is the original Rego papers for a an FC wagon back in 1959.

This sort of find would be priceless if you happen to now own this car.   If it were my car, I would give my left leg for such papers ( it's now manual, no need for a clutch leg anyway ).

So I'm posting the link on this site, on the off chance someone out there actually has this car and would be excited to buy the original rego papers.

To me, it's something that all us FC owners wish we could find.

Having said all this, the ebayer may be genuine, and may even be a member of this site, and may have tried to find the owner which in that case I wish them all the best selling the papers, but for the $35 asking price, is hardly going to make them rich.....too me, I'd get more satisfaction in trying to find the current owner and offering it to them ( if possible ).

If it's your car......here's the link.
