I have the feeling it is a 59 Ford Cusso or something like that.  The guard looks a little narrow for FB/EK

That's it Alex - aint that a wild motor.  Rego plate is "JUCED" I think or something like that.  A play on words with the colour and the model.
And if you think this is a big dollar car then you wont believe his new project is a Boydster straight out of the US.

You forgot to mention that grand champion this year was a HOT ROD.  Just happens to be Mark Course with a Deuce Coupe that is unbelievable - he is a member of my hot rod club here in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
I bet that really upset the street machiners - as they would LOVE a hot rod to beat them at there own show.

This must surely have got you going Alex ?

Brad, If RET didn't make it quite clear - the meals are catered on numbers. So you must enter in order to ensure you get fed on Friday night and Saturday night.  The goodies bag and T shirt are thrown in for good measure.

See you there Ken
5585  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: 2 speed wiper motor on: January 07, 2003, 11:29:48 AM
Smithy - 2 speed wiper motor only - no bracket or driving arms or switch will set you back $40
You must have a donor EK Preslite wiper motor for a bolt up fit into FC.  Like Castlemaine Electrics - I find that most people would rather just receive a unit which that can bolt up to there car without worrying about what bolts to what and which way the drive arms point etc etc, but I am happy to supply whatever you need.
Send me an IM if interested.
I will supply installation instructions if reqd as well

I hadnt seen those ones Alex, where are they from?
I was talking about the ones published in "THe History Of Holden Since 1917" - page 166, which are much later and look a lot more like the FE, right body shape but with a FJish grille and odd taillights.
Or perhaps the FC prototype in "Australias Own - A History of Holden" - page 94.  Now they are some cool fins that blend into the taillight & how about those whitewall tyres ?.
If you dont have these I can probably email them to you.

Spider, I tried yours out and there is an error in the program for your colour
All your details are correct as Turquoise over Castle Grey with a Persian Turquoise and Parchment Ivory interior (same as Cat's car TC I believe)
But will need RET to check the program

While we're talking about prototypes, what about the FE prototypes?
They all look weird and ugly now - but as Rich says.  If that is what had been built we'd all be driving them now and loving them.

Daz, Not sure what answer you are looking for but there is not much available now off the shelf for grey motors in the way of speed equipment.  Swap meets and For Sale ads are your best hope of finding stuff.
The last Repco head I saw advertised went with an FJ that needed a full restoration.  Price was $10000
WOW Tongue Tongue

You could try the Vintage Air stuff that is made specifically for Hot Rods.  Very compact.
Advertised in Australian Hot Rodding every month.
It is quite expensive but very good and brand new with a warranty which is good.

Slim, I just had a look at the jewel on ebay and this is DEFINATELY the one.
I have only ever seen a few fitted to cars as original.  One was on the quarter panel of a ute, the other was on the front doors of a FC sedan.
RET is 100% right - they were in the FE accessories list but seem to have disappeared by FC.  I suppose the styling was old and they were a poor seller - so they were simply dropped from sale.
Surprising how many NOS ones turn up though.
We have had a few go through the auction, but none have even come close to $600 though  Shocked

5592  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: FC-217 I.D TAG on: December 31, 2002, 11:46:25 AM
Yep your right FC 217 is rarer than FE 217.  The hardest ID plate to find anywhere is FE 219.  I have now got one thanks to 4 hammers spotting one on ebay and alerting me to it.
Only 5 recorded in my travels.

It's called vaccuum metalising.  This is how I do the badge repairs.

5594  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: FC-217 I.D TAG on: December 31, 2002, 03:37:17 AM
Oh no - I'll bet the tag was pinched by a collector.
FC 217 is probably the second rarest car to find of all time - I have recorded only 6 in my entire collection of body numbers.

I have a definite dislike of removing tags from cars that are still restoreable.  None of the tags I have ever taken were from restoreable cars.
5595  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Copper Head Gaskets on: December 31, 2002, 03:26:05 AM
All early head gaskets, not only Holden, were made of copper and asbestos.   Check out the swap meets where there are literally hundreds of head gasket sets still available - even for greys.
You will find that all the Holden head gaskets in the original blue and gold boxes which ran up to EK I think, all had copper head gaskets.
These are good to obtain and I would recommend getting them in the auction if you can, but dont pay too much for them since they are not really that rare.

5596  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Push Rods on: December 30, 2002, 01:45:39 AM
Actually Slim the engine is from an EK. The engine numbering started at 1000 again with the "B" prefix and ran through both FB & EK.
There were 174,747 FB's made according to the Holden Heritage book, this means that the engine is 52, 211 into the EK series, and since there were only 150, 214 Ek's built, it is about a third of the way into the production.
The EK was released on May 2 1961 and superseded on July 30 1962 - almost exactly 15 months.
This would make your engine roughly October 2 1961

I think my logic all holds together here.

Hope this helps

Much appreciated.  Try for an overcast day so shadows don't run across the interior.

5598  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: FC-217 I.D TAG on: December 29, 2002, 11:10:53 AM
No I dont have 1 for sale but I do collect the tags as a bit of a hobby when they appear.
Sounds like an interesting project - stock or modified ?
Are you going to put in the pillar switch and taxi bar to make it look like a gennie 217?
My current project is a FE 217 but I have taken out the taxi rail more out of safety than anything else.
I will keep an eye open 4 u but I guess you realise that they are pretty hard to find.

5599  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Single colour FE's on: December 29, 2002, 11:04:31 AM
Mike - cant find your other post about the FE. Anyway no matter.
I dated your car as late September 1956 - I was pretty close!
Most 1 colour FE 225's have a 2 tone painted interior 2 match the exterior and 2 tone seats
The second colour inside does not have a code number on the ID plate and sometimes is a standard colour and sometimes is not.
The exceptions to this rule are White & Black cars which have all body colour painted interior, although I have made mention of a black car I found recently with a black and silver painted interior.
Certainly every 1 colour green FE 225 I have records of has 2 tone interior paint & seats.

5600  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: scratch plates fitting on: December 29, 2002, 10:50:01 AM
Kev, according to the fitting instructions they make it very important and clear that the tabs go under the rubber.  It is mentioned twice & underlined !
Loosen the handle and slip the scratch plate in from the top until the tabs sit on the screws.  This way the plate should sit flush against the door - there is no gasket beneath the scratch plate.
If the scratch plate has been bent a little over the years you may need to "adjust" it a little so it sits flush with the door.
