Good to hear from you Steve, and welcome to the FE-FC discussion forum. Good to see you're waving the flag for us (so to speak) over there.
Cheers,

G'day, Got my copy of the video at the Club meeting on Thursday night, watched it last night. Very happy with my purchase. It showed the majority of cars at the nats, as well as interviews with different people (damn I look good on film!!). Well done Dion.
Cheers,
Graham

Grand Champion was won by Kevin Woollard with his supercharged V6 tilt front FC Ute. I think all of us at the Nationals, already new that it would win when we looked at it on Good Friday!

Hi Nicko, If you're interested, I have an FE/FC ?? Air Chief radio that I was thinking of selling. I'm not sure if it works, but I can bring it to the nationals with me if you want to have a look?
Cheers,

Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Grey Motor running Temperture
|
on: April 14, 2003, 02:39:50 AM
|
Hi Jimmy, I always think it's a mistake to run a temp gauge on an old Holden (There'll probably be a few people disagree with me). I find that it makes people worry about something that their car has always done, only they didn't know it. The first questions that I always ask are: Does it use water? and does it boil? If it does neither of these, then there's probably not a problem. Have you only just put the temp gauge on and changed nothing else? If so, then your car has probably always run at thet temperature. Another thing you should consider is, how do you know your gauge is accurate? Is it an old gauge, or is it a new modern gauge? You should also take into account where you have the sender unit.
Having said that, if your car is running too hot, you should try to do something about it.
Hope this is helpful.
Regards,
Graham Pryce

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Chrome Plating

on: April 11, 2003, 01:15:58 AM

Hi guys, I can also reiterate how pleased I am with the work of electroplating technologies in Queanbeyan. They rechromed everything on my FC, and also did all the zinc/cad plating. The die-cast stuff is excellent (headlight rims, tail light rims, fins, door handles, grille & boot badges).
They were recommended to me by a bloke with 2 '28 Buicks.

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Original tool kit
|
on: April 09, 2003, 01:22:40 AM

Hi Mike, I think you'll find that the tool bags were made from scrap material (you hardly ever see two the same colour). From my experience, the earlier models seemed to have 2 press studs (FE?) and the later models had a drawstring (FC?). Can anyone else shed any light on this? From the picture it looks like you have the correct tools.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Graham.

Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Push Rods
|
on: April 02, 2003, 11:56:51 PM
|
Hi guys, I'll just put in my 2 bobs worth as well. The lifters are also 2 different depths (although overall length is the same). Ideally, you should use the long pushrods with the deep lifters and the short pushrods with the shallow lifters. However, if the block's been decked and the head shaved, it can be beneficial to use short pushrods with deep lifters (for a shorter overall length).
Having said that, you can mix & match lifters & pushrods with success, as there is usually enough adjustment to compensate, but you should avoid it if you can.
Cheers,
Graham.

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Gray engine colour

Hi guys, Any PPG/Dulux agent should be able to mix you some Holden engine grey in enamel off the formula. If your local stockist doesn't have it, I have the formula in a book at home somewhere.
As an aside, who is "coolaride"? The reason I ask, it looks like you have a picture of the front seat of my FC.
Cheers,
Graham Pryce

G'day, May I suggest you check out some of the swap meets. I have quite often seen them new in the box (NOS) at the swaps. Part number is 7411825. I realise that this might not help you immediately, but it's the best long term solution.

G'day, Good to see another grey resurrected! One thing everyone seems to have overlooked (especially if you intend doing a few miles), you should consider changing the timing gear before you get stranded on the side of the road.
I look forward to seeing you at the Nationals
