I was fascinated by this car when I first saw it for that exact reason - what was it used for?
Maybe a funeral car?
A government car of some sort?
I wouldn't think a fleet or salesmans type car as black doesn't strike me as a good colour for that purpose.
Needs stockies but Leon :-)

Technical Board / Restoration Help / AM Radio Convertor

Stumbled across this on the web. http://www.rediscoveradio.comCollector Cars and Music
Do you love your collector car and also want to enjoy your favorite music when you go for a drive? What if you could use the original radio and enjoy your favorite music at the same time, for hundreds less than either radio replacement or conversion?
At last, you can enjoy the music from a CD player, iPodŽ, Sirius/XMŽ satellite radio, cassette player, or a simple portable FM radio without removing or modifying the original AM or AM/FM radio!Looks like a really cool product to liven up your original radio.

Is it possible that the control cable is vibrating backwards over that time, closing the valve in the vacuum motor? So when they stop can you restart them by turning the knob on the dash? Alternately it could be the seal inside the motor itself. The paddle that is driven by engine vacuum could be worn and get worse as it heats up through use. This guy http://www.wiperman.com rebuilds them. Ficken Wiper Service 132 Calvert Ave West Babylon, NY 11704 (631)587-3332 M-F 9-5 EST Robert Ficken sales@wiperman.com

Go to Bunnings and buy some threaded rod, some nuts and big washers.
Pull the shock out and put the rod in it's place, tighten it up so it holds the spring tension. Remove upper and lower stub axle/king pin assy bolts and then back off the nuts on your threaded rod.
Safe easy and cheap - and is a good way to put them back in.

Under light or full load? Anyway, check that the vacuum and centrifugal advance mechanisms in the dizzy aren't stuck and that the accelerator pump in the carby is squirting a strong jet of fuel. Just because stuff is rebuilt doesn't mean its right. Check points gap, timing at idle and 2000rpm, and coil output. Check the fuel pump, filter and system operation. Stinky is right though, quickest way to find out is on a dyno using an oscilloscope.

It certainly was a shame that it turned out to be the wettest Sydney day in April for 10 years Credit to guys who drove their older cars out there. There were giving away nice 40 year celebration stickers and I grabbed a few. I didn't buy much, just bits to give my FC a good service before this Friday at the Easter Show. Its now running the best it has for years

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Fine spline diff for FC
|
on: April 11, 2011, 09:30:20 AM

LJ GTR XU1 were all fine spline and were limited slip diffs The LC/LJ all had coarse spline except the 150 '73 Bathurst LJ XU1's which had fine spline. They are available, might cost a penny of two to get hold of a pair. Spot on. With not many more than 150 sets ever made the price for a good second hand set (if you can find them) will be well over $1000.00. I have a 260+ HP Red motor in my XU1 and use either 3.55 or 3.08 coarse spline LSD's. No issues with broken axles EXCEPT when I fitted a 3.55 CIG locker. Lasted one pass at the drags If you are looking for outright strength and aren't concerned about originality then why not fit a B/W diff? Lots of ratios and stronger than any banjo.

I wasn't having a go Shayne, the pictures are great and I am certain appreciated by all who don't visit those particular forums. Was just pointing out that a simple link or reference to the source would be useful and in fact very worthwhile because there is generally other fascinating information included with the images. Keep them coming I say
