282  General / General Board / Buying Parts Unseen Through The Post???? on: April 17, 2003, 10:01:02 PM
Can anyone advise on the safest way to buy parts unseen via the post please? And what do you do if the parts are not as good as they were described? Any advice on potential pitfalls appreciated. Also, what would a NOS horn button be worth for an FE/FC and is there any difference between the two models? The one I've seen has the lion in front of a gold shield. Roll Eyes

The bar's not off the FE Chris - I haven't begun that restoration yet. The bar is off an earlier project. I intend to speak to the guy concerned as soon as I get a second opinion on the job quality. The bar was delivered to my work and I was flat out so I wasn't able to get a really decent look at it till I got home. I'm not inclined to give him a second go at it either. I'll be asking for a refund I think.
284  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Chrome PlatingThanks everyone. I spoke to Shan on: April 12, 2003, 05:50:49 AM
Thanks for the advice everyone. I spoke to Shane @ Electroplating Technology in Queanbeyan. He can't do anything over a metre in length but said that all his large work goes to Hamilton Chrome in Newcastle and that the results have been excellent. He won't use anyone in Sydney apparently. I spoke to Frank at Hamilton Chrome and I think I'll give him a try next month. I'll post the results when the job's done. Has anyone used Hamilton before????

Cheers..Ken K

I have just got a bumper bar back from a chrome plater and its full of linishing marks and uneven spots. Can anyone recommend a GOOD firm in the Sydney area PLEASE?

Thanks SLIM. I was leaning towards "All Models" as they say they have original GMH moulds to assist with repairs. I will give your recommendation at Liverpool a call too.

I want to have some minor repairs done to a bumper bar and the over-riders. I spoke to a firm called "All Models Bumper Service" at Moorebank. Has anyone dealt with this company and what were the results?
