Technical Board / General Technical / Indicator wiring dilemma
|
on: January 02, 2023, 07:58:42 PM
|
Hello and Happy New Year.
I'm rewiring my ute and will be using a Universal 12 circuit fuse panel meshed into all the cars circuits and using the original indicator steering column switch.
Every circuit is fine but I've hit a snag with the indicators.
I have a set up on the bench an instrument panel for testing the indicator flashing lights.
The universal fuse panel has a dedicated indicator power feed and integrated flasher can.
To test if I've have the wiring figured out - I've grouped the left and right indicator wires (Left - Light Blue (front) Pink (rear) - Right - Dark Blue (front) and Purple (rear)) connected to the instrument panel indicator lights. From what I can see everything is earthed correctly.
When I connect the dedicated circuit from the fuse panel to the 'white wire' on the indicator switch and the switch is in the off position - both indicator lights flash brightly.
When I move the switch to either the left or right position the globes are dim with no flashing??
I have used the yellow wire as this is indicated for the flasher can power in the original wiring schematic.
Any clues / suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, Wasim

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Windlace removal
|
on: December 12, 2022, 09:25:41 AM
|
Hello, I want to remove and replace the windlace in my ute whilst leaving the headlining in place. I've removed it up to the headlining already.
Do I just carefully cut it out just below the headlining and will the new windlace be able to be pushed into the 'groove' or will it be fouled by the old material left in the 'groove'?
Thanks in advance, Wasim.

Technical Board / Restoration Help / AWA valve radio repairs
|
on: November 29, 2022, 07:29:25 PM
|
I have an AWA valve radio in working order but the volume is very low and the speaker and aerial wires need resoldering (barely hanging on).
Who is the best person to get in contact with to fix these items?
Regards, Wasim

Technical Board / General Technical / Variable main jet, Wilsonia gauge and Paint code queries
|
on: June 19, 2022, 06:08:35 PM
|
Thanks in advance.
I have a twin carb set up for the grey motor with both carbs having a variable main jet (carbs have been rebuilt) - my query is - before fitting the carbs to the engine what is a good starting point with the variable jets - A quarter, half or full turn from closed??
With the Wilsonia gauge the amps read -30 to +30 amps (original generator puts out 29 amps) - if I fit a 55 amp alternator will the gauge still operator or is there something I have to do?
What is the correct name of this paint code 256 2058 - is it Duchess Green, Glade green or something else?
Regards, Wasim

Technical Board / General Technical / Throttle shaft BXOV-1
|
on: November 20, 2017, 09:53:31 AM
|
Hello, Is the throttle shaft in a stromberg BXUV-2 interchangeable with a BXOV-1?
Reasoning being the throttle shaft and lever are one piece on a BXOV-1 whereas the BXUV-2 is a two piece set up making it easy to add a ‘w’ clamp for multiple carburettor set up.
Thanks, Wasim

Technical Board / General Technical / Vacuum tank
|
on: January 09, 2017, 02:53:58 PM
|
Does anyone know if this is possible
Run a vacuum tank off the manifold and from the tank run 2 lines one for a power booster for the brakes and the other for the vacuum wipers?
Would this then mean that I could use a normal fuel pump and not the fuel/vacuum pump?
Thanks, Wasim
