http://www.nostalgiadrags.com.au/Not sure whos attending, but if there is any interest, maybe we can meet and drive in as a pack to park our cars in the car show area together, Im very keen to put mine down the quater, but the truth is any breakages will mean no wedding car (and i was wanting to line up john r and alexs car) . I should have both my cars there on the day, and hope to see some other old skool rev heads. Let me know asap, and we can determine times, meeting place etc. Also crown on mccreadie, are the fe-fc guys making an appearance at the anzac day show? if so let me know and ill let the fb/ek club know to.

For Sale and Wanted / Cars For Sale / Fe special sedan/FJ sedans
|
on: March 03, 2008, 08:02:00 AM
|
Up for sale is an fe special sedan, one out sill is required (or exsiting can be repaired). Basically complete, with grey, crash, original interior, all drums, new clutch and brakee masters, good floor pan, starts, drives (needs a brake attention), Great Project Car, Great Restorer, Great Drive as Restore.
Also for sale is a pair of fjs, both good projects with miminal (one with no rust). Want to sell as a pair so someone can restore an awsome fj, and have a complete car for parts, or second resto.
Selling to pay for house renovations, and make room for my registered cars in the garage.
All cars are in nsw, Western Sydney, and can be view by appointment. They are too good to wreck, too good to waste. Prices are realistic.

Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Alloy sideplate and tappet cover
|
on: February 29, 2008, 08:43:45 AM
|
i have an alloy side plate in my fb, it was in ordinary condition when i get the thing to.
What i did was soak it in soapy water while rubbing it with a 1200 grit wet and dry paper, this removed most of the poor sections. Once happy with the profile of the metal, i sprayed the centre section the colour i required.
A day or so later, i used buffing compond to polish the alloy sections, after hand buffing, a finer compond was used, then auto sol, and basically washed it again and she looked a million times better. The same was done with all the tappit covers fitted to my cars ( i dont have any with original covers).
I find that if you buy them in this condition and a few hours work on top, you save a good tank of fuel and you earn pride when you fit them.
If i bother to get the car this week, i get a pic for ya. Brake master cyclinders can be polished with a wire brush.
Great score, but if not fitted correctly oil leaks may occur(use aviation paste around both sides of the gasket, same with tappet cover), also if the tappit covers are not fitted correctly you may find a tappit knock as the hit the inner cast wall. Just unbolt and move into position.
Alternatively you can get them bead blasted, thegentleman who did the carbies at ingleburn nsw, has offered to do another two sideplates for me, but the future of some of my cars is yet to be decided, so i dont think its worth me fitting them yet.
