1061  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Scratch plates on: May 17, 2007, 10:31:20 AM
Yes I agree.I always try to take photos of the old girls lying around before they are touched but unfortunately forgot the b%#$&* camera!I will definitely go back as it looks like someone could use the bits that are left.Lots of glass also.I didn't mention that one of the 3 FE's is a station sedan, also has complete glass but is very, very rusty (sitting on it's belly in the dirt).Only managed to get the tailgate badge (pitted) which basically had rusted off.Sitting on the front seat was a NASCO? remote oil filter. Were they actually NASCO or do people just say that on Ebay to get more money for them? Will let you know when I have been back.I am still trying to figure out how to get my other photos of wrecks up (have read the instructions and now have a Photobucket account so shouldn't be too far away).
1062  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Scratch plates on: May 17, 2007, 10:05:52 AM
I can't tell you where,I'm sorry.Private farm in SA.I picked up the bits I mentioned but the Continental kit would have taken me all day to get off.I have permission to take what ever I want (payment in beer). No photos yet but I basically didn't grab the kit because of time firstly, but I thought if someone was interested I can always go back. The kit is not complete.Missing the two strips from drivers door, some others have minor damage, most have no damage whatsoever.Let me know if what is there is of use. :)Cheers Jamie.

I'm not sure if it is just my computer, but the photo of the repro horn cap (horn ring hole cover, hehe)is not showing up.Is the picture still available or posted somewhere else.Would be very keen to see it. Smiley

Does anyone have any close up photos of original FC-FE scratch plates.I went out to look at 3 FE and one FC wrecks today and could not believe my eyes when one FE had a Continental kit and four immaculate scratch plates on it.Then I nearly fell over to see it had a Warneford Designs twin stromberg manifold an extractors on it.Also collected 2,2 piece sunvisors with the alloy strip.Gotta get lucky sometimes! Shocked Grin

1066  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Rear quarter replacement on: May 16, 2007, 07:08:53 AM
Has anyone done a complete rear quarter panel replacement before/got any photos? My current FC project has some damage right on the style line above the wheel and can't be easily repaired because of the tyre well being in the way.I have done a lot of metal fabrication before but this still looks rather daunting.I would prefer to spend the time to fix this rather than filling it up with 2 kilos of bog!Would appreciate your thoughts. Smiley
1067  General / General Board / Re: Horn buttons on: May 16, 2007, 06:47:44 AM
Well, what a saga.I will be your classic fence sitter.I have 9 horn buttons(horn ring hole covers ;)and every single one is a different colour. The ones with the white painted back seem to have retained their colour better( red, blue and silver) than the ones with silver backs and have no part numbers on them. One has even gone completely silver. On several, the lion is part silver and part gold in no particular pattern. It would be far easier to just put this into the seven wonders of the world category before the whole web site comes crashing down around us!!!! :-/

1077  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: battery in boot on: May 03, 2007, 07:19:01 AM
All very good advice, also if running the cable under the car,can be an idea to feed the cable through a flexible corrugated electrical conduit for extra insulation/mechanical protection.Use at least size 0 multistrand auto starter cable or 00 if you can afford it to reduce the voltage drop(there's a lot over that distance) when cranking.Heat shrink the ends for moisture(as mentioned by Smithy). I saw supercheap had battery boxes for $15 to $20.Make sure the battery is clamped down with a proper battery clamp(not rattling around in the box) This is compulsory if you ever do any racing at a drag strip, and just makes the whole install safer. Hi guys and girls, long time reader, first time member. Can you help me with two of my paint codes one of my sedans is black, code 253-6258,trim 4-846 and the grey one is 253-2049,trim 263-635.The grey one was a rolling shell when I bought it and was in primer, but the dash and wheels were grey. The black one is all very original.Would like to know what the original colours are so I can match the paint.Any help is greatly appreciated.
