you can make new vanes out of circuit board material you should be able to buy it fairly thick still thats what my new ones are made from
cheers dave
That is interesting, what is the impact of exposure to fuel ? Another option would be carbon, not sure where you would scource, but i do know these were used in normans. g

Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Fitting early Hilux diff

hi
has anyone fitted an early 80's hilux diff? if so, what gearing and gearbox combo worked?
Yes I have got one fitted , but not run yet car is in bits. You can get 3.0 to 6.0 gears so whatever your need there is a gear.ford stud patterrn ( 2wd), Much lighter than 9inch and not far off in strength. Prior to 78 (rn25) is 1370 drum to drum, good for 8 inch rims (hard to find) post they are 1420 as per standard diff. I am running turbo 700 box but u can run whatever you like 3.9 gears from a cressida cheapest and best for all round cheers grant

BTW, does anyone have any tips for a dummy trying to tune a 350 Holley carb?
Hey Glen,
This is from memory: Take off front bowl and check Main jets around 52-56 ,powervalve 65 which is located in the plate between bowl and body. reassemble Take out grub screw on side of bowl when fuel pump is runnning fuel should just dribble out. If not loosen big screw on top of bowl and rotate nut below until it dribbles, lock back up. Check arm that comes from linkage and pushes down on shooter pump, at full throttle it still should have some downward shot left. Finally after engine is warm as pedro has said screw in small screws one at a time until engine starts to stall and wind out 1.5 turns. Should be great, give me a call if needed cheers grant

Woooo not for the faint hearted, managed to get the strips off with Frank's advice, will be interesting to get back on giving the wacking it got , I think as Ken said I will open up the gap because my visor was unpainted under, so i am glad I did it as it should last another fifty years rust killed and primed. cheers grant

What you need to do is get a block of wood place against the back edge of the strip on the top side and tap it gently with a mallet progressively working your way along. You will need someone to hold the sunvisor sections for you as this will help stop you from hitting the strip too hard and damaging it. The same method can be used for the stainless strip along the gutter edge with the block of wood placed underneath and tapping gently with a mallet care needs to be taken not to bend the strip so you will need an assistant to help hold the strip as you are removing it Cheers Frank [/quote
Cheers Frank, good advice I will let you know how I go. grant

You have to bend it a little to get it open and repair it when you close it up again - it's not the nicest job in the world.
Ken
Ok, I thought as much thanks Ken ( I think ) cheers Grant
