61  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Wanting to buy 2 Front end springs FE Fc Fb EK on: December 02, 2020, 08:32:44 AM

There will be a part no stamped into the flat part of your existing front coil springs

They are all slightly different, even between FE & FC models

Very surgical and neat Rob, you should be nearing the end of the metal work?

Vern,

You may have solved a mystery for me, I acquired an EJ grey motor painted yellow some time ago!

I thought it was a Yella Terra job but the head work says stock

Seems to be the go to spot for switches
FE Wagon

FE Ute

FE Sedan

I'm guessing maybe a foglight switch, I have an FE with that set up as well

So between the vacuum wipers, heater demister & fog light, you had a fighting chance of seeing where you were going

Yes, I'm afraid pink doesn't cut it, although this one was cut Cry

To be fair though, back in the 80's I owned a Wedgwood blue ? with white roof EK Hydra wagon
As my daily driver and it served me well, all over Sydney & burbs, even a very slowww trip out to Weethalie with a car trailer to pick up an FE ute!

Ahh the memories
69  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Floor trans tunnel brace height on: August 27, 2020, 10:06:25 PM
Same with our standard FC wagon as Ken did
Left my car trailer at Parramatta wreckers in the morning on the way to work

They cut the whole floor out of nice  dusk plum and pink EK Hydra Wagon, and I picked it up on the way home

Hit the post button too quick  Roll Eyes
Yes, FB EK lock will fit FE FC column
Also, you could use regular bolts with maybe an Allen key, or other weird head

Thanks for the info Mal, its getting hard to find original tanks, looks like a good alternative.
74  Galleries / Project Cars - FEs and FCs Under Construction / Re: NEW PROJECT FC UTE on: July 30, 2020, 11:10:18 PM
Mal,
Great build your up to there!
Curious about the Mustang tank, obviously it's deeper, but any idea how close it is to the original hole in the floor, (assuming you had a floor left)
Cheers, Gary
75  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: club plate frames on: July 05, 2020, 09:34:47 AM
Don't get me started on these horrible excuses for number plates on our lovley cars, it must have been 4pm on the Friday of a long weekend in the design department.

It could not be for ease of recognition by police as they have technology to pick up plates in their cars.

Let owners display or reorder their original plates
The modified cars have to wear fork lift plates!

Anyhow, here's my effort...

77  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Rear indicator globe holders on: June 02, 2020, 10:39:36 AM
John .re hand signal....In the museum at Fagan park we have a 1934 Chevrolet Truck ( restored by the inmates at Bathurst gaol and then donated to us ) it has a sliding mechanical hand signal ,mounted above drivers head on top of front glass , not the pivot type like on Inter pick ups, we always tell school tours that this mechanical turn/stop indicator was introduced because drivers where loosing arms, we hope its a deterrent/awareness to the practise of people driving around with arms out the window ..I don't know if was the safety based thing back then ,cause I can recall hand signals as a boy in '50 and 60's in cars anyway , the beautiful 1932 Leyland we have ,you couldn't have your hand out the window telling the world what you were hoping to do ,you needed both your hands and passenger helping to turn the bloody steering wheel ,but hydraulic brakes to save the day ...stay well Vern

Vern
Thought you were going to say it had a sliding mechanical tray underneath to smuggle prisoners out
78  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: seat mounting bracket spacers on: May 09, 2020, 09:25:45 AM
In the earlier FE's they were made from wood, which we're a little sturdier than the plastic
79  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: seat mounting bracket spacers on: May 09, 2020, 09:22:03 AM

In our pano I used the fronts but left the back ones out as it gives the seat a bit of lay back

Helen, pic of white wire that links the door switches in the A pillars, the last pic shows the clip that secures the wire to the lower dash lip
