G'day all...

My old FC was "on the set" of a short film last month. The film will show in colour and should appear at a few of the short-film festivals around the place over the coming months.... I think it was called "It's just not cricket" or something along those lines, and is a comedy about a young bloke who lived next door to his best mate and they played a lot of cricket.... My car was just used as a prop to set the era of the 50s along with the old clothes and house. I'm not even sure how much of my old girl, if any, will actually appear in the film, but if you hear of it around I'd be keen hear about it so I can have a look.... Anyway, here are a couple of pics from the day.....

G'day again...
I was just thinking that maybe the better idea first up would be to aim for a poster print run.... Being October we may have already run out of time to get a calendar selling well for 2003. Like what CAT was suggesting, we could pick out an ad or two (or classic photo) and do a "limited edition" print run... it would help guage the interest in such projects... people could then decide to frame 'em and hang 'em or store them away "for later on".... they could even be a big bigger.... And even better, if they didn't sell straight away, we could still be selling them the year after.....
A national FE/FC logo could be included in the design along with the web address etc, and if it sold well, it would raise the funds for a second or third one......
Just an idea...
Les....... Wink

G'day all...
Just got back from holidays to find this great new section up and running, not to mention this topic...
I reckon a calendar is a great idea, and like everyone else would definately be in market for one when (or if) one gets up....  Grin either this year or next... and as for getting Holden involved, how about the 2006 calendar for the FEs 50th Anniversary....!!!?
Over the years I've talked about calendars for our club with Stacey. In the SSEHCC we've obviously got a few more models to choose from, and as mentioned earlier, would help attract interest from further afield than just in our own clubs. And like Richard has already discussed, Stacey and I had similar reservations about the idea – cost, picture choices that look good, sell well and keep the majority happy (everyone wants at least one of thier own vehicles covered - me included Grin).... It's always hard to raise money in clubs, and it's hard to ask the same people all the time for their financial support too.
On the bright side, the pre-press side of it should keep costs down... Richard already has a great handle on it (I too would like to offer you any help you need RET if I can help in any way...).
I guess one thing I could say, if the "project" does focus only on the FE/FC models, that we aim for a little variation in the images.... by that I mean some old ads (love 'em), maybe some production line shots (also love 'em!), old everyday street shots, and maybe even setting up a few shots using some of the better club cars? You know the perfect shot from a club run to a country town, out front of that old classic Aussie building...!?.... As for the cost of printing, B&W would be cheapest, but maybe the occasional use of a sepia coloured duo-tone might help lift some months...
Anyway, thats my 3¢ worth... keen to hear about futher progress....and thoughts.....
Cheers..

G'day guys..

I wasn't there long enough for the dinner, but I thought the venue was cool - once we found it - plenty of room to park the cars, on the grass and the car park out front, and also plenty of room for the kids to run around....

The bits of video I saw were great... surprising how many of the old girls' are still around after all those years... Also it was good to finally meet up with a few oif the guys and there were some top looking FEs and FCs there to top it all off....!!

... and my kids loved the colouring in too...!!! job well done to all involved...

Cheers...

610  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Losing water on: September 14, 2002, 02:43:00 AM
G'day again guys...

I've done a bit of checking of most of those things mentioned above... I have found the oil (now drained) is still black and not "creamy coloured"... and when rubbed into a clean smooth surface there's no bubbles and no wet feel.... BUT, I have got a fairly thick layer of a gunky goo under the rocker cover, all over the rockers and coating the inside surface.... and it feels very wet... Not sure what this means as the car still seems to go great, starts good and still hits the top speeds... She dosn't splutter and cough and there's no visible leak, so it must be inside....? Huh

Is it still possible to keep driving her I wonder, and why would there only appear to be water at the top and not at the bottom.... I think I'll have to take her somewhere to get a pressure test done to see if it's the head gasket of water pump gasket....

Any more ideas...?
Cheers..

Having fun is what it's all about....!! Wink
Like Richard says, there's heaps of different ways to do the same sort of thing.... Also like Richard I reckon the "variations" way is the easiest and it gives you a preview which is always a bonus.

The other way I like is to select an area, and on a new layer, you fill with the "foreground colour" and then you can play around with "multiply" or different opacities..... also makes it easy to change later on if you don't "flatten" it ....

Cheers

Thanks guys for your help...!!

I had done a head gasket in the past, on "that" trip to Melbourne in '98 for Holden's 50th... there was a fair amount of water coming from the exhast pipe at the time it happened, so to date that has been really the only check I've done so far to try and work out if it was the head gasket or not.... Still hoping it's not!! I will do those other suggestions over the weekend... Got to get under the car anyway to track a small oil leak that has also just appeared.. Sad  Last time I flushed the radiator out was about 12 months ago, so will also have a go at that, and see how that goes....

As for going on Sunday Graham... still not sure if I'll make it. A couple of the kids have got stuff on (you know how it is)Wink... but I do have the day off and hope to make it.... we'll see...

Cheers..

G'day guys....

Have a problem recently with my old FC... I seem to be losing a lot of water, but through nothing visible that I can see. It's starting to baffle me a bit.... as it's never happened before, just in the last couple of months.

There dosn't appear to be any leaks... but every week or so I'm finding I need to top up the radiator with a litre or more.... any ideas on where else I should be looking for the problem would be great....

thanks...

Hey gree.....
You don't really need to do the chop mate... I reckon she looks pretty cool as is... Wink I actually thought that the original pic you've got there had already been "photoshoped"......  It's got a look to it that makes want to see it in a gangster movie or something....  Tongue
Cool car...!! Can't wait to see it in the flesh....

G'day..

Don't know if this will help, but there is a young fellow from Orange, Aaron, (who is also a member of these boards) who has done an excellent restoration job on a beige FC ute.... a couple of years ago he emailed me these shots. I'm sure he won't mind me sharing 'em with you... It shows a little of rotisserie method.... He may chip in with some more details for you...

G'day guys...
At the Bargo Swap meet a couple of weeks ago there was one guy (a well know FE/FC parts guys I'm told) who had 4 grille badges for sale.... 3 of 'em for $200 and 1 for $250.... I was on the lookout for one but couldn't bring myself to buy one.... I thought that was a bit too much... they weren't NOS, just used ones too...

Cheers..

Hey Craig...

Great pics.... Cheesy I'd love to see that wagon in action...!  Shocked
I thought I had a couple of racing pics, but the only one I found was this one taken at good old Mt Panorama (not sure when though). You can't see the FE as clearly as in your shots, but I'm sure it's about to pull out of the slip stream and fly past the other guys any second.....  The caption on the back says the drivers are: Car #34, Bill Burns, Car #27 is Des West and the FE (Standard ??), Car #113 is driven by Bruce McPhee....

I'll keep looking for more, but I fear I was thinking of FJ racers....
Cheers.
