G'day guys.. Just a development on the above mentioned Holden calender, and hoping not to dampen any future sales of the FE/FC clubs' calendars.... it appears there could be 2 (or more) going around with the same covers, but different pics inside... the one I saw earlier didn't have and FE or FC in sight other than the cover.... but one that is for sale through TRAX has a nice looking blue FC wagon (also the cover car) and a yellow FE in the same shot... and there is also a Ute's calendar which has a yellow FE/FC ute (possibly the same car - it's a bit hard to see on the pic)....  http://www.topgear.com.au/default.cfm?state=2_2_2Cheers.... G'day... Elsewhere on this discussion board you may have seen the "Smith's heater-demister" ad.... here is a similar picture used in that ad.... it must be from the same photo "shoot" but the lady pictured here has her arm in a slightly different pose. Also you can see the headlights of an on-coming car in this picture....  Cheers.... |

G'day guys...
That's one of the things I've always wondered.... I have quiet a few old pics, and would love it if someone, somewhere along the line is able to recognise any of the numberplates in any of those pictures... It would be a great buzz I reckon...!! Especially if the car is still around in a club or something like that....

Nothing about buying the car, but I was thinking if it's a single-tone white sedan.... it could be just the car the guys are looking for to base the FE/FC discussion board photoshop chop competition on....
Just a thought.... are there any photos around...? maybe a good side-on one...?

G'day Alex... I'll see what I can do for 'ya.... I don't really have the same access these dayz to that beaut copier... something about management thinking to many people were using it for "non-production work", what ever that means... ... The FB ute ad, looking at it again, is more of a brochure than an ad, but you'll see.... and with the above Smith's ad above, I just realised that (on auto pilot) I scanned it in in B&W.... there's only a bit of spot colour on it, but I will try to replace it with the coloured version later tonight... Just because you liked the other carpark pic... here's another one...  this one is the "new" Wynyard underground car park pictured the day before it opened.... Part of the inspection party on that day... 2 FEs and 2 FCs.... If my eyes are right, the FC second furthest away has a painted bumper and headlight surround... Lookout for a closeup soon... G'day guys... Glad you liked the pic...!  To help with Alex's observations, I went back and re-scanned the original pic to try and capture as much detail as I could....  As you can see there are a few scratches and creases on the old photo, but you can see the FE a little better I hope.... there is indicators, and no numberplate overridder.... as for the interior, can't really tell... you can see where somewhere in the history of the pic it was re-touched with a brush (as they did in those pre-computer days) to highlight the back shape of the car and the actual steering wheel too... hope this helps... And yes Craig, the caption on the back say it is the Kent Street car park... good pick... Cheers.. Les.... |

I don't think this particular ad was published..., definately the version I have isn't from a magazine or newspaper. I think it must be some kind of advertising flier from the actual Holden dealership ... It was just a small one-sided leaflet (about the same size it is here).
It came from one of our former members' FBs believe it or not... A few years ago he bought an original old yellow and white FB from an old fellow who had it sitting in his garage.... as is often the story, he was able to collect a lot of original brochures that went with the car too. With it was the FB sales brochure, FB price lists for the Coggins dealership in Camperdown - with colour options etc, and a few other bits and pieces including this ad.
He was good enough to let me borrow it all and I photocopied it on a good colour photocopier here at work.... I thought I had a colour version of that rare ute ad you've got, but it turned out to be the FB version (sort of)....
I also have a copy of the original photo used in this heater ad if you want that too....

G'day guys... Just found this pic in one of the old magazines I have lying around and thought you might like to see it... I had never actually noticed it before..... It's from the October 1958 issue of Modern motor. The article is about a "performance test" between this FE - Bob Holden's Repco-Holden – and Peter Manton's Morris Major. I guess I'll have to go and read it now, see how the holden goes .... cheers...  |
