I am having an anxiety attack just starting this thread. I have come to the realisation that I will never do anymore with my old girl and the years of sitting in the garage and being driven twice a year just doesn't do it justice.
I have thought about moving her on many times but all I have to do is start her up and move her out of the garage with the CD playing rock & roll and I put her back and say No Way! But I am not getting any younger and being an old school Fc'er from the early 80's it is extremely difficult to finally put this up.
She has been with me for about 10 years. I found her under a carport in blacktown unregistered but in remarkable shape. She has been done up maybe 15-20 years ago and some of you may know her origins.
She has all the old school gear plus some, All updated and/or fitted by me. HR disc front end, M21 4 speed, roller rockers, Hr rear axle, thermo fan, HQ Chev v8 radiator, electronic ignition triggered by Mallory twin point dissy( only one set of points active as trigger) Head work, reco 202, lightened flywheel, balanced, mild cam, manufactured alloy rocker cover to clear rockers, 4 barrel vacuum Holley, extractors and 2 1/2 system.
She is not perfect but a really good drive car, some small spots of rust coming through but what you see is what you get. The front subframe was removed and fully recoed professionally, (paintstripped, rust sections grafted in and reinforced and painted in 2k.
The biggest problem I have driving her is the clutch, being old and nostalgic I put a heavy duty 1 toner clutch in( like we did in the old days) but alas, I am now 50 and not 20 and my left knee doesn't hold up in traffic at all. A lighter clutch would improve things no end.
She is Pink and white with white 13x7" rims
If you want to fully restore an FC pick another one as the overall cost will kill but if you want to do a few touchups and mods and drive a real old school girl this is for you.
Located in the Blue Mountains NSW and I think maybe something like $9500 neg as is.
Full NSW rego with 202 size & engine number listed on papers.
Been so long since I posted on forum I have no idea how to add picks but have them on hand when I figure it out.

Thanks for the feedback OldJohnno, You are right, pathetic to say the least but you cant beat the nostalgia.
7  Technical Board / General Technical / 12 port Alloy head on: September 27, 2008, 05:46:50 PM
The new YellaTerra 12 port alloy head is very close to being on the market. Any discussion on the advantages of an alloy head over cast? They haven't been priced out yet but I imagine they won't be cheap.
8  Technical Board / General Technical / 186/202 compression tests on: April 20, 2008, 12:04:54 PM
Could any one Please tell me if you did a compression test on a standard high compression 202 and a standard 186 what psi would you expect to see? The second question is what is the actual difference in stroke between the two?
Really appreciate answers to these, thanks.

9  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: red/blue/black dipsticks on: April 15, 2008, 09:02:47 PM
Not sure about the length issue, I have a blue crank in a red 202 with a EH sump. I compared lengths with a standard set up for th EH and used a modified later model dipstick and tube. After some weird noise issues I found the dipstick had been wearing on the crank when put in a certain way. I now keep the dipstick  clipped to the engine bay with a rubber grommet sealing the tube on the engine until I want to check the oil. Not a great solution but no more funny noises.

10  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Any one running 3 webers on a red? on: April 13, 2008, 05:59:47 PM
It's a Seton manifold with an adapter to suit a mk2 hiflow. I was after an early Caine style 4 barrel manifold but went with what was on hand. It's a bit of a weird set up but it's a way of getting multiple webers under the bonnet without cutting into the firewall. Wether it performs is yet to be prooven, I'll let you know. Still tinkering with the idle circuit and waiting on jets.
Not into too much polish under the bonnet, just like it clean and workable.

Ok just took the time to "photobucket up" so to speak, so maybe this will work. Ignore the untidy wiring, bodgy throttle linkage and crimp in the fuel line, but this is the set up in it's teething stage. After trial and error the answer seems to be 34 mm chokes, 195 mains f7 emulsion tubes 205 airbleed and f9 65 idle jets.(maybe70's) And make sure you don't have to adjust your tappets in a hurry!

Playing with a set of twin, yes twin not triple, 45 sidedrafts on my 202 in the old girl (through a 4 barrel manifold) and was just wondering if any one running triples could give me a starting point for choke sizes and jetting. I'm dropping down to 34mm chokes (from standard 36) but figure what works with triples might be a good starting point for this set up.
Thanks.

The only thing that works for me is "don't work on your car so much that the missus gets the shits with you, wait till she gets the shits with you then go work on your car." They won't come near you, guaranteed. Depending on your relationship you may get a lot done or very little!

17  Technical Board / Modification Help / EH column in FC wiring on: July 02, 2007, 08:36:08 AM
Hi guys, The old girl has always been a wiring disaster but everything always seems to work. With the subframe makeover and Engine rebuild at Xmas I threw a EH column in and figured I'd do what I always used to do and get a wiring loom out of an EH or HR and upgrade the whole lot. Guess what? 6 months later rego is nearly up and the old hand signals are wearing a bit thin. With the mess already there has anyone got a guide for hooking up the EH blinker wiring to the old FC loom? (The red wire connected to the blue wire type of thing).
With thanks

18  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Twin exhaust on: May 19, 2007, 06:04:06 AM
Twin system on a red = a 3 cylinder in stereo.
Was never my favorite sound.
The sound of a throaty single system leaves it for dead.
My opinion only of course!

19  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: MY NUTS KEEP COMING LOOSE(WHEEL) on: April 02, 2007, 06:54:13 AM
This usually occurs if the wheel studs have worn the holes in your rim out slightly from being left loose at one stage or general wear. The more your wheel comes loose the more wear will be occurring and the problem only gets worse. It usually means get a new wheel or put a new centre in it I'm afraid. Have a look at the holes and see if they have enlarged at all, this may be the problem.
