Next the alternator
I ended up getting a new 140 amp alternator and wanted to do a low mount bracket with the Gilmer belt set up.

I couldn’t but one that was just going to be a bolt on so I had to make it myself. The low mount didn’t give me much room to play with either

Was sweeting bullets with the length of the belt, but it ended up fitting perfectly with plenty of adjustment

Bonnet repairs

The inside of the bonnet had a fair bit of surface rust and a couple of holes on the front so I removed the front and rear inner bracing and acid cleaned the bonnet skin inside and out and sandblasted the 2 bracing sections.
The bonnet has now been sent away to get louvred

Bonnet catch modification
I didn’t like the look of the cable so a bit of welding and messing around and now the cable is out of sight

Moving on to the top cover panel and modified bonnet catch

I made up a section to go around the radiator cap and welded it into place

The next problem was the radiator cap hitting the inside of the bonnet support

Nothing a bit of cutting couldn’t fix

Next, radiator all fitted up
Radiator is a Griffin that I got from the States
Made up saddles for it to sit in and these are welded on with the top being held by made up brackets that are welded to the top radiator support brace

Not a lot of room in there

Thanks
The system is going to be full 2 1/2 inch stainless
Its all stainless steel and most parts are polished when I buy them.
I use stainless wire in the mig to weld everything together
The most tedious part is the grinding, being careful to only grind the weld.
When I have the weld ground close, I use a flap wheel in the grinder, then 120 sanding disc, then 320 sanding disc, then polish the section on the pedestal polisher.

Just started making the exhaust system
This is going to be a long tedious job

Some of the bits I started with

Lots of grinding involved

Both front pipe sections done
Now to go into the x pipe

Update also on the floor pans
Transmission tunnel welded together

Then started making the floor pans

Also added some gussets into kick up on the rear rails

Both sides cut to fit

My gear shifter and handbrake finall turned up. Si I fitted those up, very happy with my choice

Next was trial fitting up the brake booster and master cylinder, and of corse nothing is straight forward
The bolts on the booster were way to far apart for the master cylinder to just bolt straight on

So I had to knock up an adapter plate to suit

Pretty easy job

Only had to cut a small piece from the return part under the dash to get the 8 inch booster fo fit

I’m planning on mounting the reservoirs under the ash tray lid in top of the dash. That’s today’s job.

Ended up making new engine mounts, the standard ones were just way to much messing around to change

Just a quick update, have finished the both sills now.
Same as the other side, I’ve fitted an intermediate strengthening panel inside the sills

Bit of rust to repair on the rear quarter panel also

Just have to put a new panel into the lower rear quarter panel to sill area.

Next ive cut and trial fitted the trans tunnel and tailshaft tunnel

Not going to weld it in yet until I get the shifter and handbrake as they both fit onto the gearbox and they will be easier to fit to start with, without the trans tunnel in.

Tomorrow I’ll start on cutting in the floor pans.

Hey Rob, yes and I really hate welding upside down....

Don't know how many times I've set myself on fire.

Still jumping from job to job.
Started on the sills, cut off both sills and cleaned up the inner sills

Had to do a repair on the back of the drivers sill

With the sills I’m doing the same as the FB EK utes with putting an intermediate support panel in between the inner and outer sill for extra strength
